Why does one have a Visa, Mastercard and/or Amex? Choices are good.
For speculators, maybe they see a brighter future for Feathercoin.
Other’s maybe the community support is why they’re into Feathercoin.
It’s all up to you to research and see which coin(s) works best for your individual situation.
If you like being told what will happen next w/your cryptocurrency (eventually), then Bitcoin and Litecoin may suit your needs best.
If you enjoy contributing to the development of a cryptocurrency and innovating, then Feathercoin or a few others may be a good fit.

It is always better to have more than 1 choice. It then removes any monopolies on the market.
