How to get involved with feathercoin?

Hey I’m new to the scene also. Do you program at all? I have some ideas for things that I haven’t been able to find out there, but I lack a lot of experience to make that happen. Let me know :)

Second obvious option is to buy FTC. The most convenient way is here on ‘marketplace’ section of the forum. Maybe someone even share a little amount for free.
Or if you already have some LTC or BTC you could exchange them:
https://bter.com
https://vircurex.com
https://btc-e.com/exchange/ftc_btc -
The only thing I can program in is HTML. I have run a couple of websites. One was an online music magazine and the other a sticker exchange / swapping service. Further than that I know little to nothing about programming.
I have got 30 FTC from BTC-E. I bought these with BTC that I had earned from faucets and other sites where you can earn very small amounts of BTC. I also got one free FTC from d2’s thread on BitcoinTalk. That was the first thing that really brought FTC to my attention and then I did some research by reading posts on this forum and really liked the community atmosphere of the people driving FTC forward and decided to swap some of my very small amount of BTC I’d earned for FTC.
I will have a look at the marketplace section. Thanks for that tip. :)
To be honest it is really just basic html. I have used css but a lot of that was just modifying other peoples source code and would take some revision to remember how to do.

:)
Theres allways a time to start :P
Just think of something your good at and think how that can benefit the community. Theres alot of freelancers out there.
Maybe your a people person and would do a great job at aquiring new connections?, spread the ftc word and so on.
Learn how to mine/setup stuff and be a part of the “Medic team” ;DTheres a ton of stuff that can be done, just have to be creative or ask some in the teams if they need any help:
heres a chart of the ftc force: http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=2765.0 -
Thanks for the advice. :)
I am going to spend some time thinking about what skills I have, what I could best contribute to FTC and also learn more about FTC. I will keep an eye out for projects I feel I can make a worthwhile contribution to and try to keep active on the forum so I am aware of developments and available projects.
I really hope to get mining. I am very excited about it. Just don’t yet have the hardware or capital to create even a very basic rig at the moment. However mining is definitely something I want to get involved with in the near future.

Do you have any basic desktop available with a PCIe slot? You don’t need much supporting hardware to mine with a 7950, and they run just a bit north of $200 on newegg. If you’re on a laptop now you might have a hard time stuffing one in it though :D

If you are okay with HTML (5 I assume) then CSS is a doddle. CSS is simply how you make the HTML look for the most part. It gets deeper but is very easy to grasp.
If you want to compliment your front end skills (HTML) then I would look at getting some client side scripting under your belt.
Javascript for example. You’ll find it an employable skill as well as useful to adding functionality to other people frontend layouts.
Thanks for the advice, I need to brush up on my skills. They are a few years out of date. ;)

Welcome to the community! There are many opportunities around the forums to help spread the word about Feathercoin.
Thanks d2. Really want to get mining, your pool looks great, but would love to help out with something else to beneficial to FTC as building a rig is not financially possible for me at the minute. :)

Owlie, where would you like to contribute…?
If I have any projects coming up I will let you know and perhaps you could let me know if you can help… :)
Keep you ear tuned, looking to sort out another meet where we want to get the Ox University students involved, perhaps you would like to help on this…? ?
Keep me posted :)
Or any students or gamers involved :)
I am going to to keep an eye out for projects I feel I could contribute to. I know it may be obvious given FTC is a cryptocurrency but a lot of what seems to be needed is computer knowledge. I am not a complete novice, I have an NVQ in IT and have run a couple of simple yet successful websites, however programming is not a strong point of mine. I like art and writing but not really sure how these skills could translate, maybe with flyer / leaflet / poster designing is about the best idea I have off the top of my head. I’m not sure how I could help with an Oxford meetup as I live in Devon, but if there is anything you think could help and be done from a distance I’ll try to help out. :)

Artwork is allways appreciated!
Also writing skills is great.
For example a great way to contribute is to make tutorials/guides, being a “newbie” as you stated is great for that stuff.
Since you know exactly what you felt was/are missing regarding starting from scratch. Maybe you found learning how to grasp the concept of digital wallet was hard? in that case why not write a guide/article about it. (just an example) :D -
This sounds like a really interesting idea. Maybe writing a newbie guide is a great way to contribute. Maybe some sort of introduction to FTC for the complete novice, like what is cryptocurrency, the basic concept of a digital wallet, the differences between BTC, LTC and FTC, etc…
-
Maybe a FTC session in Devon/Cornwall ;) My fave part of the world.
Yeah sure I will give it a go. A newbie explanation of Cryptocurrency, including concept, block chain, digital wallets, mining, positive / negative, usage and coin examples / differences (BTC, LTC, FTC). Cool. Would you be able to proof read it if I PM you before I post it on the forum? :)

Owlie, that’d be great, its something we can use when talking to students / gamers and merchants and the general public when introducing them to FTC :)
