The solution is going to have to be web based, built off of CoinPunk or something.
I must admit I was thinking along the same lines. But haven’t had chance yet to look into how it works and if there are any limits on size of payment etc…
This was not just about me being able to spend on food and drink at the Oxford Blue, this was about having a platform for everyday traders to use for payments, and making things as simple as possible! If we try going down the feather tipper route the trader has to have a twitter account, a father tipper account, and so does the person making the payment, it’s all of a sudden sounding a little complicated now where as a simple wallet app that they had to do nothing with other than install and away they went may just be able to get adoption up.

Surely a wallet app could still be written and published in Cydia?
As I have said I’m not up on these kinda things but I’m I right in thinking that this is used by Jailbroken devices only?
That’s correct. A Wallet on some iDevices is better than a wallet on none.
But I’m aiming for simplicity for the user, I’ve jailbroken iPhones in the past and back then it was a total nut ache! unless it’s got a lot simpler the average Joe or Josephine isn’t going to be interested in it.
The latest jailbreak tool requires the user to press a single button and the wait for the jailbreak to complete. If you get the wallet app into one of the main repository’s (easier than you might think) then it’ll show in Cydia by default.
I really think it is worth considering. There is a hell of a lot of jalibroken iDevices out there.

But why target some iPhone users with an app, when you can target ALL smartphone users (not just iPhone) with a web site?

I haven’t seen UKMark for a bit, but I’m pretty sure we already sort of have this: https://cryptoknox.com/
No?
I was under the impression that storing your coins on a website was not the best idea. Hasn’t there been multiple instances of website owners absconding with their users coins?

I not too sure about that, a lot of people have twitter already. All they have to do is go to feathertipper.com and log in while they’re logged into Twitter. Now they have a wallet. -
Of course it will open up the possibility to have a mobile wallet for a minority of iPhone users but the general mainstream populous of iPhone customers will never even consider jailbreaking. Hell some wont even know what the term means lol. In the long-term it is these non tech-savvy people that we want to become introduced to the world of crypto currencies. So it is indeed a big shame that Apple are locking us out from producing a mobile solution for their customers.

Well thats buggered that idea up then :(I do like my Apple kit as it just seams to work as a solution for me, but all is not lost as we get Android from work and the Android wallet seams to work well for me at the moment, I was just hoping to increase the foot print of it and then maybe move on to a Windows wallet as well.
I’m still willing to work with the P2Pool server idea to raise a bit of funding for other projects if anyone is interested.

Although I agree with the statement that a web based wallet would grant accessibility for all, isn’t a Wallet app better then a Webpage?
Just help me out here :P I am thinking about the possibilities of, for example, Near Field Communication (NFC)? Isn’t that only possible with an app? Also, many webpages have launched special apps specifically aimed at smartphone users. If having a normal webpage would suffice, then why would they even create these apps?
I still think an app is, in the end, the best way to go for a wallet. The ease of acces, the look of it, the idea of actually “carrying” those nice soft Feathers in your pocket… That’s what makes me happy! :D
I understand Apple is just being an *** again by forcing users to use their products, and ONLY their products, but I think it is a dying field. In my personal close environment, the “closedness” of Apple products is actually “converting” Apple fans to Android. People are sick of having to use iTunes, people are sick of not having freedom on your own bloody phone.
I think Apple should rethink their strategy instead of us adapting to Apple users. Oh, you can’t download a wallet? Might be time you switched to a operating system that works like it should: giving you the freedom to do whatever the hell you want with that phone you just bought for 600$. (!!!)
But that’s just my opinion :)
(Actually, now that I really think about it, I just don’t see ANY reason to ever buy an Apple product again, apart from the look. And if looks are the only thing you care about, I don’t even want to do business with you. “I’ll take my Feathers and business elsewhere then, good day to you sir!”)
EDIT: Wouldn’t a single Webpage/Webwallet that everyone uses make this a rather… centralized affair? Wouldn’t it be more vulnurable to h4x0rs? Or am I just talking crap now? :P
Oh, and I also “bolded”/highlighted a few sentences that I like as one liners xD -

Yes I totally agree an app is the way to go, I already use the Android app (I have an Android as a work phone) and it does just that it works! no messing around its easy and feels safer than having my hard earned feathers on a website somewhere that can get hacked at any time.

There is no reason at all for apple to re-think this, what they have makes them a shed full of money!

There are plenty of reasons beside the look as to why people choose Apple for their devices, all we need to work out is how we tap into that and make it simple for them to add Feathercoin

Interesting project, drop me a PM if you are looking for a Windows Phone/Windows 8 version.
I have been developing for both platform since 2011 and 2012.
