Check the debug.log file in same folder as maxcoin.conf. You should see something like …

        2014-02-06 21:58:13 hashmeter 241 khash/s

If so, you’re mining. You can also check your CPU usage, if it’s tapped out … you’re mining!

It’s also useful to open another command prompt window to view your info with …

        maxcoind getinfo
        maxcoind getmininginfo
        maxcoind getbalance
        maxcoind setgenerate true 6

FWIW, I’ve seen a one man scammer team have a better launched coin than MaxCoin. That was fucking horrible. I’d be surprised if this coin last long due to this launch.

            Here’s a guide I made for mining MaxCoin …

Create a folder called C:\Maxcoin

Download this file into C:\Maxcoin

Run maxcoind.exe for a few seconds (type â€Å"maxcoind”).

Close the command prompt window and shut it down.

Go to the proper folder listed here.

Create a text file called maxcoin.conf in the folder in Step 5.

Paste the contents here into maxcoin.conf and save.

Open a command prompt window and change directories to C:\Maxcoin.

Type … maxcoind --daemon
You are now mining Maxcoin! You will just see a black window.

To verify you are mining open another command prompt window, change to the Maxcoin directory and type … maxcoind getmininginfo.

You should see â€Å"hashespersec” : xxxxxxxx, as long as there is a # where I have x’s you are mining.

            Other commands …

            maxcoind getinfo
            maxcoind getbalance
maxcoind setgenerate true # (where # = # of CPU threads you want to use).
Q: So is it CPU only? Will I be able to use my Butterfly Labs ASIC when it arrives (… any day now…)?
A: Using Keccak as a hashing function renders current Bitcoin ASICs and the upcoming Scrypt ASICs useless on the coin. GPU parallelization of Keccak is possible but currently does not exist for mining with our implementation of SHA-3.
If this is true http://www.reddit.com/r/maxcoinproject/comments/1x7l7x/epic_fail/ then def. this gpu miners are real.
There is some work here https://github.com/smolen/cgminer so maybe isn’t that hard to implement keccak for gpu…

ypool.net has a MaxCoin pool now.

Just found their first block a few minutes after he updated the miner, w00t!
