I have already have 61K FTC and am planning to buy another 20K if price stay low & FTC has the promise to develop further.
I would like to share my thoughts on FTC’s with the community.
FTC is in 25th position among all coins and 16th among mine-able coins. Its current market cap is $1.77M and daily trade volume $6.5K (47th) according to http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/volume/24-hour/#feathercoin
In top 25 coins, Zetacoin is just a copy of BTC with faster speed, some major innovative coins not preferred as everyday currency (PTS, BitshareX, MaidSafeCoin, Counterparty, MasterCoin etc.) and PoS coins (NextCoin, BlackCoin) are ruling the market. Some coins are lived by Top developers (NextCoin) and Marketing campaign (BlackCoin) to attract investors but less on community effort.
Darkcoin is a real contender with privacy as it core-value.
New coins making to top 25 are dying out. They are not making hype as do before.
So, I think existing top coins will make it further with healthy competition.
FTC with Neo-scrypt will fight for GPUs. Currently GPU/CPU-mined coins is way less than profitable than ASIC based SHA-256 and Scrypt coins.
But GPU miners were the pioneer and backbone of Bitcoin revolution, still key to decentralization worldwide. So, if FTC can attract existing, depressed GPU miners, then it can create a momentum to go up in the top 25.
Also, FTC is one of the earliest coins in the Cryptocurrency world, it has a dedicated community and developers. It is very hard to get a big community unless a big Investment/effort/innovation and campaign (eg. ReddCoin, NextCoin, DOGEcoin, DarkCoin). So, how to use this community power to get FTC forward?
Another concern is FTC’s daily trade volume which is very low. BTC-e being the largest exchange and huge price difference (0.00005 to 0.00006), there is hardly a profit or, incentive for day traders. How to solve this issue?
Now, how to make FTC one of the best innovative coin. If we look at NextCoin, it is hyping as purely PoS coin (there is a controversy that PoS makes rich richer, but it is fast and less power consuming, on the other hand PoW gives coins intrinsic valueby burning electricity and miner’s effort), Asset exchange, BitShareX/PTS hypes stock in a Decentralized Autonomous company (DAC). NameCoin hypes extra feature (Domain) other than being a currency.
FTC can add new features other than just a currency like stock in a DAC that will develop innovative decentralized product (eg. KeyHotee by Bitshare), asset transfers etc.
May be anonymous support can be a big deal (DRKcoin, Cryptonote).
At the end, if FTC as to thrive being just a top currency it has to fight against big brother BTC, LTC, PPC at the end of the day. If we don’t develop or, evolve quickly, FTC will be always in the hand of speculators who will pump and dump.
