Feathercoin can only be mined via GPUs/CPUs right now. ASICs wont work.

So if you want to mine Feathercoin, get some R9 270 - R9 290x something between.

Feathercoin is an established network with a good supportive community and open source ethic. That doesn’t put down the work done by Darkcoin, which has some innovative features and some good open source development.

The algorithm has changed to Neoscrypt. If you have an old GPU setup for scrypt, it will most likely work but you will need the neoscrypt versions of the mining software. There’s a great thread on the beta of the miner in tech development and plenty of bits in the mining section.

Well open source or free software is a lot like a gift from the author. But if the software has a large uptake the author can gain a good reputation which can be worth more than the software that would habe originally sold for.
