This is bad, and proves the point why its important to support other exchanges to!
Let not BTC-E have monopoly on all tradings.

600Day ban is unacceptable without warning imo >:(
Looks like they’ve gotten to large for their own good…
Just spoke to DunningKruger and he thinks it was because they are getting DDoS’d and that they are getting twitchy. That might explain it but still seems very Nazi like.

        question

would posting shorturl links to meatspin and calling it a website where you can buy prepackaged meats with crypto for up to 20% off market price get me a 600 day ban

I was quite surprised to wake up this morning and find I had a 600day ban on BTC-e never having been banned before. There was a small conversation about ZET going on, a new SHA256 coin, and I mentioned coinex.pw 4 times in an hour as it’s the only place you can buy ZET atm, it’s a beta exchange so nobody is doing any serious trades there. Kind of strange when people mention Mt Gox in chat box all day long.

Oh well, I pulled all my coins from BTC-e. Find somewhere else to hang out.

I thought that ban was a pretty rediculous…

I propose that you make a new name and come back as “erked”

If you get a ban there, are you banned from the trollbox? Or completely from their site? Do you still get to login and get your funds out?

Looks like BTC-e admin wasn’t in a good mood today. Well, there are many other exchanges rising. Vircurex and Cryptsy are the largest, though I wish they have higher FTC volume.

Hmm…there is one new exchange looking very good so far, and its our partner exchange:

                Phenixex!

Lets trade at phenixex and add some needed volume ;)

Keep in mind that BTC-e may not be around forever.

Last I checked, BTC-e owners are anonymous.

I only use them to exchange quickly and move funds off.

Don’t leave anything on there that you can’t afford to lose.

Bitparking exchange crashed in May and has had detrimental effects on its users. So far their customers’s funds have not been completely accounted for 100%.

That’s a valid concern. BTC-e is a Russian exchange with the most of their personnel in Moscow. Don’t know where the server is located physically due to CloudFlare protection though. However, the exchange seems to be a property of some business located in Bulgaria as they refer to the Bulgarian law system in their terms of service.

I just got the 600d ban hammer. I think it was for posting a link to the Gox Facebook page. I wasn’t swearing or typing in all caps.

Right before it happened, I said: “Hey, look! we can post http:// links in the chat now…” and I posted 2 links – one to the Facebook page and one to risechicken.com.

Then, bam! 600d ban with no warning. I logged out and logged into an alternate account I had. That one was banned for 600d too. WTF?

Admin planned that one before he hit me. Went and pre-banned the other account first… then got my ‘binaryloop’ account. (Or maybe it was IP ban?)

Still no word as to what I did wrong.

The people who were in the chat at the time were like – “haha fake ban” – but, it’s real. Whatever. I already pulled my funds out of BTC-e.

That is very strange, I am going to investigate. Thanks for sharing this.

                                    to heck with BTC-E!

They can kiss my feather-mining-behind. What alternatives are there to BTC-E? I may move to Mt.Gox, or of course coinmkt.

I generally have a very fair perception of admin
He’s a weak little puss hiding behind a keyboard. If you’re going to ban someone – tell them why. At least you give warnings and appropriate bans. (1 day, 3 days, 5 days, etc.) But, a total 2 year banhammer for “advertisting” when I wasn’t even advertising is way too harsh.
All it’s going to do is lose them business. The first time they did it to Erk and Dunnington I think they tense after the DDoS and thought maybe they were part of it or something. I think they are feeling the threat of competition now all these new exchanges are coming online.
