This guy is interesting:
would seem to be our man.

should we politely ask him to take down the offensive site?

or do we just sue him for 10K BTC worth of damages? :P
A cease and desist could be possible depending on where we stand with the Feathercoin name as a trademark. Although I have a feeling his site can be taken down with a DMCA request on grounds that the photo he is using doesn’t belong to him.

ddos ;)

I jest. But if anyone wants to I know nothing about it nor did I suggest it.

Well if the main folks here at feathercoin want to put together a fund, I’ll donate a few ftc. There’s only a few people I’d trust to run it though like chris, and the rest of the devs/staff.

We should have bought those domains first…
This cycloid seems to me like idiot:

mirrax: cycloid, Any chance you put this shit down, just because we ask you?
cycloid: mirrax, i usually feel cheery around xmas maybe then but nah it does not bother me i think its sily fun :)
cycloid: mirrax, i can pm you what i said to adamstgBit

message:
use your brain for a sec, stop what you are doing and think outside the box. any “team” that does not want to own the domains in their space is not serious about security of their followers. WHICH IS A HUGE PROBLEM in my EYES. Scenario 1 some one like myself but malicious in nature clones the .com site and posts it up on all 3 domains but serves trojan injected wallets and compromises members of community with 100% targeted crypto users. WHihc in most cases will have other coins on their now infected systems, not to mention usernames and passwords to their exchanges and emails to pull it out. I have received offered on these domains for up to $500 from random ppl on bitcointalk and on here as I never hid the fact i own them, however due to above stated scenario playing out in my mind i did not do it for the sake of others, as its obvious to me anyone buying it now identified as not official team of feathercoin or a dev will do something malicious in nature. I just cant let coin domains fall in to wrong hands and right hands are firmly placed under ass cheeks and not making any moves. I am not going to go out there looking for them as ON DAY ONE i posted on feathercoin launch thread announcing i own the domains and dev should contact me… anyway all that said as far as i own them no one will compromise your valuable coins ( i mean anything but ftc) and I will do something fun with them as i so please since i RIGHTFULLY own them at this point. I might auction them off at some point, well see Cheers

DDoS can land you in JAIL. NOT JOKING. He said this in jest, but you should know that this is considered a crime, and the FBI knocking at your door won’t be laughing when you say, “But it was a joke!”

Don’t do it. Just don’t.

Feathercoin is now officially trademarked. The letter just came through my door. I will now look into this and see what we can do as we are misrepresented in a few places.

Ok, we should take the legal road on this.

I’m gonna do a bit of reading.

Hey, where did you get this info?

EDITED: Nevermind, found on different service for searches. Looks like both domains were registered by the same person.

EDIT: Removed personal information

I have filed a complaint on Facebook for the Feathercoin page which someone tried to sell. Entimp is currently publishing on the FeathercoinFTC URL instead of simply Feathercoin.

In all honesty, you can go after him for libel. It’s in print and it’s derogatory.

That would be the legal course of action, especially since you have the name trademarked and your application was sent months ago I’m sure. There’s several examples of legal precedent that can be brought up in court if it went that far.

putting up this dirt tho, feels like blackmail it crosses the line.

maybe i’m over reacting cuz i love FTC ;D

I dont sees any blackmail here. ChrisJ has only posted who this person is in real life so that we can sue the pants off him for cybersquatting (which is by definition blackmail against us). Using a domain for the purpose of profiting off of misrepresenting a brand or business is actually illegal and we can take legal action.

I think our course of action should be:

1. Allow Bushstar to seek a resolution via direct contact.
2. If that fails, Pete can look into legal avenues - of which there are a few, and some are more expensive than others.

The main issue now is that discussing specifics of this on here can end up being damaging IF legal action is taken in the future. So, my advice is for us to give the topic a rest for a bit. I think Bushstar will provide us with updates as they happen and make sense to publicize.
