Help needed I’m addicted crisps / chips / potato snacks…
Does anyone have any good advice for me so I stop eating them? Its not bad at the moment but I know the damage it can cause if I eat too many :/

I have been trying to do the fasting instead. It kicks your body out of fat building mode into repair mode. It also kills of some of the (bad) carbohydrate loving bacteria. It means you don’t have to kick all carbohydrates out of your diet.
Fast for 3 half days every 2 months - 150 calories per day, lots of water. I agree that biscuits and crisps are addictive, and am quite annoyed my son keeps bringing them because I’ve stopped buying them and it is tempting.

Will power :P
I heard some people say to brush your teeth when craving certain foods as everything tastes shit after brushing your teeth :)
Or my preferred method, see how many calories are in a bag of crisps, just Lastly avoid weed ;) -
Ruthie, have you tried ketchup chips before? Mmmm, delicious and only available in Canada.
I’m thinking of putting some up on the market!I’m just being silly.
Here’s what you do:
Calculate your Basal Metabollic Rate:
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/This is the amount of calories your body burns without you doing anything.
Sleeping, breathing, sitting on the couch watching reruns of Peep Show [that David Mitchell sure is a laugh!]Now you have to decide what you want to do. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to maintain your weight?
There’s 3500 calories in a pound of fat. So to lose one pound of fat you will have to have a 3500 calorie deficit. Now, let’s say you want to lose weight. You eliminate 400 calories from your daily BMR. That means you can lose a pound of fat every 9 days.
Count them up as you go along during the day, there’s a lot of apps to keep track, but I like Calorie Tracker as it keeps tabs on your recommended daily doses of carbs, fats, minerals and vitamins. You can even put in a goal and it will calculate what you need to do to achieve it.When you have a goal in mind it’ll keep you aware of what you’re eating. So, sure, that little bag of Walker’s Bangers and Mash flavoured crisps is totally fine, but it’ll mean you might have to skip a portion of a meal and feel hungry later. Eventually, you’ll figure out you’d rather feel full and have energy than eat that bag. You can give yourself a crisp day every week. Just make sure not to binge.
Set a goal. Stick to the plan. Use money you would spend on crisps to buy yourself non-edible treats every month!
I’d also recommend going for long walks. I just did a 16km hard hike this past weekend and even though I’m still feeling it, it was awesome. Exercise also means you can eat more stuff to maintain the desired BMR!
Now if they only figured out achievements and levelling up it’d be pretty awesome.

good stuff from mnstruck there… I’ve always been taught 1kg of fat is about 7000 calories so the numbers we have are about (or abooooooot :P my friend in the 250 hates me for that) right. Most people burn about 1-2c per minute just doing nothing, adding any form of brain usage takes it slightly above that and adding movement you burn even more, exactly how many depends on how much muscle your body has and what type of movement you’re doing :)
Also the more body fat you have the easier it will be to shift it! unless you have a serious cake problem. I bulk in the winter to around 14st (around 200lbs for Mr .ca) but when I trim down in the summer i realllllly have to put in the work, not only the training but also a strict diet.
I doubt anyone would believe the will power I have when actually cutting lol, when I hear people say awwwww but my kids had sweets so I had to eat them or i buy cake for X and end up eating it myself it makes me chuckle.
Lol I’m not even sure if you wanted to lose weight but if you are looking to get trimmed and toned up there really is no better motivator than seeing positive results. take before and after pics in the mirror, don’t hold anything in :P and most importantly don’t lie to yourself. No pain no gain!
As for the fasting shit I’m not a fan of it, you’re body will go into starvation mode and as soon as normal food consumption resumes it will want to store extra reserves (fat!) I suppose the other negative isn’t a massive issue to women but without the correct amounts of good proteins you’re body will start to canabalise the muscle you do have.
Slow and steady… 1k a week is a solid number.
another tip… make Svenn eat all the feathercoin cupcakes.
Good luck! -
Wow, thanks for all the great advice.
I think the exercising will help my cause as when I was jogging daily I did not feel tempted and I’ve kinda slowed down on the exercise at the mo :/ and the crisps sneaked right back in, bad combo I know.
Must step up the exercise… get motivated and lay of the bad stuff.
I will refer back to this thread for on going advice :) Thanks all

definitely get on the exercise! I’m not sure if its a gym myth but I’ve always been told you’re body stores more fat in the winter months. Get the endorphins flowing at the gym and you will probably want more exercise at home too ;)
