Small Donations Sought For Good Cause ..
-
I am shamelessly giving this a bump because my giveaway thread in the newbie section is getting lots of favourable responses … However without a few small donations I can only keep it going for so long
If you can spare any amount of FTC then please donate to the above kitty and your name will go up in lights on the post so everyone knows that you are a donor !
I of course have put some of my own coins in, as well as my time, for the good of the community :)
Thanks :)

C’mon people … Surely there are some others willing to donate to the pot ???
Not asking much … Just whatever you can spare and it will be spread to active newbies :D

I’ll like the initiative. I’ll be watching closely to see how this goes.
To be honest. I would throw some coins in but I prefer to my donating the old fashion way.
Giving them directly to those who I feel need them…
For instance, if someone has finally installed themselves a wallet after issues and persistence and are still unsure how things work, have no way to mine etc, I will offer them 1 ftc so they can learn how transactions work risk free.
Or another example is when I introduce friends, I’ll offer them 10 ftc for the same reason.
Just be careful what you’re starting here… Last thing we want to do is encourage crypto begging or having a number of people claiming that you never sent the coins you collected.
I’m not sure what the admins think of this idea but maybe addresses and amounts should be declared here in the thread so if there’s any disputes we can simply pull up the blockchain and see how much of what’s actualy going where etc.
-
This gave me and idea, what if someone were to create a thread where people donated feathercoins to a wallet managed by someone responsible enough where they would then decide on a charity and donate the crypto/dollars/euros to them under the name of the feathercoin community? Not only would ftc gain publicity but we would also be doing a good thing.
I couldn’t agree more … That is why I wanted to move to rewarding the members who have ‘earned’ a reward by gaining rep and posting 20 times etc
Thanks for your feedback :)

I have some incredible ideas about how to raise some money for charities :)

Remembering transparency is key here.
The next time a major natural disaster happens. I think a fund raising drive could be a very good idea. Like you said it’s a good thing to do and will also make a newsworthy article or report.
It will help to demonstrate to people that crypto currencies have more uses then what is perceived by the general public.
To just bring this around into a full loop though, in regards to donating to new members, It will have better image if all addresses for donations are made public (sender and receiver) That way if there’s any disputes, the blockchain will show what’s going on. Also, a number of other measures should be put in place to prevent abuse of the system.
At this point in time, I’m not sure how to reduce the risk of people creating multiple accounts wanting to try abuse the system. Maybe it should be for those who have no less and more rep between 5 and 9. Also have a minimum amount of post’s that are needed. Maybe 20. People would “apply” if they meet the reqs and once an admin has had a look at their posts etc to verify them, they would then receive there 1 ftc.
Giving ftc to people before they have made a conscious effort to understand ftc or shown a willing effort to grow the community in a positive manner will only encourage e-beggars.
We want to be encouraging community involvement. We don’t need a billion speculators who just wanna get rich quick.
edit
Also, if this gets too big and popular, It might have to be abandoned. The staff are all ready spread too thin. Having to keep on top of this will, development wise, ultimately cost more then it will gain.
This might be something that can only be run until the next wave of newcomers occurs.

I have to agree with transparency completely. This community seems down to earth and real and I really hope to see it stay that way. I have, over decades of trying to help people (learning how that is), come up with a few fundamental rules for all people in my life, no exceptions.
- Everyone must produce at least as much as they consume (how much you choose to consume is pretty flexible and never judged)
- Everyone should produce something of value (we inherently all know what value is)
- Ask me to help you, not do it for you and I will go out of my way to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
Much as I like to see rewards offered to encourage, the cause itself should be incentive enough.
That said I applaud the effort in this
peace
