0.8.6 Release Schedule
-
I think the web site is better to start with as a development control project(s). With the Wallet development, we will probably jump to Feathercoin-qt 0.9 as that is where the Litecoin development is “schedueled as” for further release.
If you were to develop 0.8.6 you need to “fork” Feathercoin 0.8.5 then apply all the Litecoin patches up to 0.8.6. There is a discussion required on this, development procedure. Currently, we would take Litecoin 0.8.6, fork it to apply the Feathercoin patches …
I personally think we should add patches to a test Feathercoin version, as they are added in Litecoin, but we would need to start that at v0.9…
What about documenting the present Feathercoin web site as Version 2?
Yeah that sounds great. I want to get my hands dirty. Even if I can’t code there must be something I can do, even if it’s just grunt work. I don’t know if I will like it but I want to try it out so that I understand the nature of the tasks and challenges. Maybe it will help me find others who can get involved in the future.

Controlling “official” Githubs is one of the most important jobs. It will be mainly applying patches after takeing note of discussion.
Anyone can assist. They Fork the current “site” to their own area. Develop it, then offer back the patch. You can also make them part of the organisation, so you may delegate patch work to the “coder”, if they are up to speed…
Early versions can be restricted to smaller numbers of developers, which is useful till it is in a state to get wider involvement…
If you want to start some code, I suggest Forking “Listen to Litecoin” and lets get Feathersong going, I wanted to do that ages ago.
I suggested Peter messaged had a look recently, but didn’t say if he was going to set up the official development Git… I think its a great idea to just do it…
First thing is to start a development thread, with where the Gihub is etc…

Can I add that, I am only just learning about Github, I have watched a few tutorials but it is so inclusive, it is a lot to take in. I did have to do software development control by hand though, so realise how brilliant it is…
Any good Github video tutorial recommends?

I’m just learning by doing on Github myself and I’m glad, that I didn’t mix up things for the 0.8.5 version.

Can I rename this thread - Getting started on Github?
2. I
%git add -A *
%git commit -m “first commit”
%git remote add origin https://github.com/wrapperband/eFloys.gitand got my old eFloys updates going in Netbeans 7, well cool…
+1 rep for a GREAT beginners guide to Git.
Now, when you’re ready for the advanced course, I can’t say enough good things about git-flow: http://nvie.com/posts/a-successful-git-branching-model/

This video seems quite good for an overview of Teams collaboration tools in Github.
Github is a skill worth obtaining, but members who find it complex (everyone?) can still contribute content, via the forum.

I spoke too soon, Litecoin 0.8.6.1 is out with lower fees, and some bug fixes.
-
In 2014 April the launch of 0.8.6.1, this would be a good time.
April would be a good date to work for, but we might be onto version Feathercoin 0.9 (for Qt5) by then, if things go well.
This is a rapid development period as the bitcoind protocol moves out of the beta stages. There are already many updates in the pipeline available for Feathercoin.
It would also be nice to know why April would be good? Perhaps there is a holiday, or spring, or some other reason a new release might be good publicity?
There is no technical reason to fix a date except to get members co-ordinated and it would have to be flexible in order to involve our part time and volunteer members and let them take some ownership.
Anyway, the open source movement in general has put the tools in place and is now moving away from a date based system to rolling release, when new functions are available and have been tested.
Kevlar’s work, formalising the windows compile into package, is one way members are already laying the foundation work for greater participation in the development.

You can count me in for the packaging of the linux versions like I did for 0.8.5 :)
And also for some testing, of course ;)
-
I’ll take care of the FreeBSD Port, like I am working on for 0.8.5.
-
What are the latest developments ? I look forward to 0.8.6
