FeatherCoin Marketplace SourceCode?
-
Hi guys, I love the ease of use and clarity of the FeatherCoin Market, and I would love to port it to another Coin which I personally adore almost as much as FTC. So is there a source code available for this excellent platform or do I have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak?

Good question.
I know Bushstar did a lot of work on it, and I’m not sure if they had to buy any stuff (tools) to get it going.
I’ll message him to view this thread.

Great, thanks a lot. If I could handle the code I could contribute as well of course.
Could it be based on Rainworx? (http://www.rainworx.com/awedemo).
Or go4mart (http://go4mart.com/eBooks)
Or WeBid? (http://www.webidsupport.com/) (
Most of them are commercial indeed. See here for an exhaustive list: http://www.capterra.com/auction-software -
Why don’t we just start a project to develop an open source market? I could help by having the original idea.
For instance, it would be great if it was p2p.

Well ok. I am all in for that. I hate developing on my own, because I loose interest too quickly if the task is too big. I am very good at front-end development incl. UX and I could make the market look better than anything you have ever seen. Of course I know server-side languages as well. I could dedicate a lot of time right now into such a project.

We’re / Feathercoin, trying to facilitate such projects, eg Link. and get member contributions or promote related open source developments.
I was just brainstorming an idea I had. Wait and see what Bushstar says for the standard solution …

The system is based on WeBid but I would find another starting point as that system has many bugs some of which are still cropping up now. The Feathercoin market is bespoke and not easily portable. I started passing fixes back to the original project and wish I had started from the beginning. I now have a copy of the vanilla WeBid system in my dev environment and intend to work through the bugs and correctly implement some of the features. That would be the version to use and I can work with the WeBid community to add crypto support in a friendly way.
By the way, any idea how much Rainworx cost?

Website says $2,995.00 for default “AuctionWorx Enterprise License”
Wow. That is pricey as there is going to be a lot of work adding crypto support, you may never see a return greater than that cost and I expect the license is annual. The Feathercoin market was more a work of love so I did not mind sinking all the hours into it, the system I choose required a lot more TLC than expected.
There seems to be another, possible older, auction system which looks more like WeBid called RWAuction Pro.

There needs to be an open source market. preferably p2p
Isn’t Silk Rd open source?, I’ll look into that…

I’m going to look into this…

The Project:
BitWasp so that anyone can setup their own bitcoin marketplace. Hopefully by providing software that is straightforward to set up, and can accept bitcoin out of the box, without any 3rd party providers, people might be more open to accepting bitcoin in their business.
