I bought a couple of USB ASICs, just to support any up and coming SHA256 coin. As they don’t earn any Bitcoins at the current difficulty.

Of the coins that didn’t seem out right scams,

Terracoin - highest hash but was being attacked

Primecoin - Single developer, attack protected, limited forum

Namecoin - good idea, poor empty forum, no code development, attacked, couldn’t register (bugs with forum?), no linux client

Just saying, it would be a similar process to bring Namecoin up to date as Feathercoin has gone through. There look a few members on that Namecoin forum website who realised it would make a good currency as well as a DNS system and could make vast progress with a bit of support.

Don’t know what the “political” situation is but, Namecoin always gets kudos for being “different”…
