Roadmap?
-
Sorry, I’ve had a look round for a development roadmap. I see lots of projects ongoing, is there a direction or roadmap in place I could take a look at? :D
If I’ve missed it, please feel free to throw rocks or bricks ;D
-
Ah yes, I would love to see one of those.
Love stalking those of tech giants. ;D
-
It might prove helpful for people who want to contribute to find projects that need help and development whilst working towards a single goal.
-
Hm… I actually remember seeing one somewhere.
It’s not exactly a roadmap, but more of an overview of our upcoming projects.
It hasn’t been updated for quite a while, though. -
Ah, that is old haha. Might be an idea for the website, might even help instil confidence in the wider community.
Could a dev’ please move this to suggestions please? Having thought about it, it’s out of place here. Sorry!

There is an obvious software development roadmap, for our main responsibility, the Feathercoind and Feathercoin-Qt software. We’re following the Litecoin bug fixes and enhancements.
Feathercoin is about community support, miner support and market development as well as maintaining the wallet and network. All the effort making guides for miners and ChrisJ’s publicity work, is just as important as the bug fixes.
We had a choice to go with a 0.8.61 release, but as we have just released 0.8.5 and there were no significant rush or needed function to get another emergency release out. Each change means members have to upgrade and miners need to update their software.
It was discussed in ChrisJ’s 0.8.6.1 thread. The next logical release for us, to minimise miner’s updates would be to Feathercoin-Qt 0.9. There isn’t a stable release to build that from yet.
However, work is currently done by a number of members, to enable extra network protection. There are also a number of fixes being worked on at Litecoin which it would be now advantageous for us to use, when they are completed.
The beauty of Feathercoin is it is up to you, or me… Encourage members to contribute and we will move forward. Like Richard Stallman, I would prefer my software to be free, even if that is sometimes seems slower to happen.

I think these are the bits that excite me the most. It’s exciting that they are on the horizon. :)

[/quote]I totally agree I wouldn’t encourage anything else. Perhaps ‘roadmap’ is the wrong phrase, I’m just thinking of visual tree showcasing a common direction to assist the community in recruiting help, co-ordination, encouraging development of important features and to give the impression to the wider community (without the need to be heavily involved) what what is on going. It’s such a huge strength of ours. :D
People are often quick to presume someone else is doing it. I just think it could be a good way to show where people are needed and show people who have ideas that their idea isn’t already being developed. I mean, they could get involved with people on similar projects.

I would love to see a technical development roadmap for the Feathercoin core protocol. This goes back to my request for suggestions for innovation here: http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,6894.0.html
I have sent Bush a link to this thread.

Thanks Chris! :D
