who added a smite action to the forum? without any discussion.

The problem is not that it has been added but that it has not been removed. Vanilla SMF gives you no option to remove smite. I will hack it out now :)

Now removed again. There may be a few items that need to be sorted like this as all customisations have been lost except the current theme.

Damn I could have smitten(?) Bush, missed my chance.

It’s a hobby horse of mine that negative actions feeds the destructive “pecking order” animal instinctive response.
This empowers the pecker, but is destructive physiologically and mentally to the pecked. Hierarchical pressure is a major cause of depression in humans. That is why I try to be more a “carrot” man.
Just making sure what happened, suspected set-up issue. It’s one of the reasons I’ve been arguing for a cloned / github web site copy, to think on solving those potential problems.
Thanks for being on it before all my hard won Rep went. 8)

I like that. If only more people (myself included) could take that onboard.

I only agreed to add the karma option in the first place if I could remove smite. I’ve found a fix that will persist beyond site migrations as it is on the database side.
