Oh yeah tribesman and uncle_muddy. Was meaning to give you this.

Thank you for pointing out that walk through and thank you for pointing out bamt.

It’s what ultimately led me to getting my rig going with Smos.

Once i’ve confirmed everthing is all good and also fully realise what I did and how I did it. I’ll try do my own guide for R9 270 OC using a usb thumb drive as the file system.

If i get good at this and get some good tweaks, I might even sell prebuilt/configed rigs.

But yeah, Once i know what’s going on. I’ll get a new topic going and offer up my conf files and links to smos etc.

edit

It looks all good. I’ve got nearly a whole ftc in my confirmed and I’ve only been running for an hour or so.

The mighty link that actualy got me up and running. It was incredably simply once i figured out what I was doing. I’ll be doing a guid for this over the next week.

Nice one! I know it’s a fight to get these rigs working, but I have to confess that I loved the challenge. Took me 2.5 days to build my rig, and it’s been a daily passion since then. Sometimes mining can take over your life for short periods of time (seriously!).

Ok, it seems Cryptobadger’s tutorial do not work, because it download old drivers.
This one might be worth to try:

• Isn’t SMOS scam stealing some of your mining power??

For now I’ll stick with SMOS just to test things out. What do you mean scam stealing power?

I’m pretty sure I can run the card faster, probably an extra 20khash/s. It needs tweaking.

Just checked my stats and it looks like I’ve just shy of 10 ftc overnight. The heat has stuck at 69 degrees. That was without the aircon switched on as well. So the rig handles one card without any extra box fan or aircon cooling.

Though I think at some stage, maybe not even to long ago, something got reset… In the wee hours of the morning i checked it and it said over 1200 shares accepted, but this morning it says 30 shares. I was reading that some miners stop mining if they go into power saving or standby… I don’t think SMOS would do this seeing as though it’s pre-configured for mining but I’m not sure.

I’m gonna let things run for a few days and keep an eye on stats.

Nice! Just one tip, you shouldn’t put electronics on antistatic bags because the outside conducts and could short out your mobo / gpu. Just put them on their cardbord boxes ;).

I’ve been doing that for years without thinking… Duly noted.

Thank you for the advice!

I now have guiminer-scrypt / cgminer within windows running my spare R9 270 @ 475kHash/s

–gpu-platform 0 -d 0 -w 256 -v 1 -I 19 -g 1 -l 1 -T --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1125 --thread-concurrency 16000

I’ll keep this updated if I can speed things up more in either SMOS or Windows.

Huh?

I’m doing the 477kHash/s with windows 7. My Win 8 machine is only for running the block erupters I have.

Why did I think you were running Linux? I’m sorry mate… If you’re away from your PC alot you should check out CGWatcher + CGRemote, when you can be @ssed configuring it…

It’s because I have 2 R9 270’s

One is in a rig running BAMT SMOS - 480kHash/s
The other is my partner’s gaming PC - 477kHash/s (I also cpu mine random new-algo coins with it as well)

Nah it’s ok, if I’m at work, someone is always home. My brother and partner are both pretty competent.

I’ve noticed the same thing as well, my windows rigs fall just a little behind comparable rigs running LInux based mining software…
