I got 10 of those myself. Well, first idea was to go with ASUS DIRECT CU II TOP (or something like that), but after reading some reviews and comparing the prices, I decided to go with Toxics. They have higher clocks and without any overclocking you can easily get 500 khash/s on each. Additional plus for 270x was their humble power needs (compared to 280x), so it was easier to combine those with smaller PSU’s when Seasonic 1250 wasn’t available.

For same amount of money I could choose 4 x 280x or 6 x 270x. If one GPU dies - it’s better that it’s 1/6 than 1/4, right? Even if you replace it, while you do ut, you are losing less if “only” 500khash is not working…

How much did you pay for your Toxics?

May be worth mentioning NVidia 750ti which seem less of a bargain as you only get ~275khs for a £100 card but they only use 60watts of power. So depending on your power costs this may end up being a good offering.

Yeah I was looking into the 270x. The price difference is pretty significant at something like $100 cheaper. That and I believe that the kh/s is only about 100 less, which in my mind makes it the best card i’ve seen for the operation i’m planning. Why the Sapphire Toxics though?

Because out of the 270x range they go the hardest, and they look f*cking sick…Especially at night…

I’ve got 1 crate of the Asus Direct CU II 270x and they go at 80% of the speed and are always going sick or dead.

The 750Ti are a bit like electric cars… Sure they are more efficient and better for the planet, but can you seriously be @rsed?

If you’re planning on mining even when difficulty climbs to levels where returns against a power bill a negligiable, yes. It may buy a few more months more of profitable mining over someone running a more power hungry set up. That’s my fear, anyway.

Well yes I can be arsed but only maybe due to the low cost of the cards and the low electricity use. And also as I could actually buy some without a 2 month wait. Lol

I haven’t had any wait when purchasing any R9 series cards ???

Since I can run 6 of the 750i on one rig instead of using 2 rigs for 3 280x as I have it right now (running of a 750 watts PSU on one of the riggs), hell yeah I can be arsed when the price is $0.17/kwh here in sweden.

So i’m going to let you all decide for me ;D

                      4 Sapphire Toxic’s or 5 750ti’s

If choosing the 750ti’s then which brand should I get?

I’m totally biased, so you may not want to listen to me, 4 x 270x’s all the way… When the BTC price goes up again and profits are strong, you’ll want raw hashing power vs “don’t f*ck with the trees”…

Can you get 4 270x for the same price as 5 750ti? I was expecting it to be 6.

Its your call I’ve just upgraded to 750ti’s and its got nothing to do with trees its all about the electricity bill.

He may be able to, but all the retailers are limiting 750ti purchases to 5 per model per customer at the moment.

To hell with the trees (we have a gazillion of them in northern sweden, want some? :P), I just don’t wanna go minus on mining :P

Haha, I’ve gone all in, I’m a full time miner now, couldn’t have picked a worse time, all I do all day is find new undervolting limits and search for a profitable x11 currency to mine…
