Hi Yusuf,
Welcome to the comunity.
Cpu mining will take a long time to find a block and get payed, even if you mine on a pool.
It will become more effective after the change of the hashing algorithm, that is planned for late October

ok awesome, just checking all the software and setting up the stuff to see how things go. I do have a GPU that I want to use, but as soon as I get all the hardware I need for it. :-) thanks

For now if you are CPU mining look at mining PXC, that is already on Neoscrypt, which is what Feathercoin will be going to once we are happy with the GPU miner.

thanks! could you perhaps show me exactly what to do to get neoscrypt working? I am using the minerd for my current mining. I got a wallet for feathercoin and use the pool to mine with the details. what exactly would I need to change to mining via neoscrypt?

At the moment Neoscrypt is only used by Phoenixcoin, but in the near future it will be used by Feathercoin.
When the announcement is made a new Feathercoin wallet will be released that you will have to download and install before the swap over.
For now to mine Phoenixcoin first you need a wallet.
You can get that here http://phoenixcoin.org/
Once you have installed the wallet and let it sync up you are ready to mine.
Go to this thread and choose one of the p2pools to mine at and set yourself up.

If you have problems setting it up just give a shout and someone will help
Phoenixcoin along with Feathecoin can be bought and sold on Cryptsy
