Pi Mining For Newbie

Hello, if you read the title i guess you know what i’m talking about.
i’m not very wealthy, so i would only be able to buy maybe 2 ASIC Chips, but i do have a Pi i can run it on and i have plenty of ventilation to cool my stuff with. i also have a high bandwidth so mining would be ok for me. all i really hope to do is to get myself money to buy lunch and stuff, and i don’t think Bitcoin can cut it. the exchange rate for Bitcoin to Feathercoin seems pretty high, so i thought i should give it a try.
what are your tips/suggestions?

The advantage of new algorithm called Neoscrypt is that you do NOT need to spend your money on any ASIC’s.
Just give it a shot with your CPU or GPU :)

Pis are great for running ASICs, but in under 10 hours we will have hardforked from Scrypt to NeoScrypt so you will not be able to use ASICS to mine FTC anymore, but you can still use them to mine other Scrypt coins and buy FTC with them if you want.
I use the Pis for all sorts of projects, I have a twitter bot counting down the hardfork running on a Raspberry Pi, a price ticker hooked up to anotehr Pi that is running My SICs to give me up to date price for FTC.
One thing to be careful with about the ASICS is do your homework as a lot of ASICS will never give you a return unless you get your power for free.
I’m looking forward to the return of the arly days after this fork where I can just let my GPU on my PC mine some FTC in the background whilst I surf the web to offset the cost of my electricty

i was going to piggyback from parents since i’m still in school. what do you think is a recommended setup? I’ve got 2 PCs aside from my own Pi, one nice, high ram Laptop with integrated graphics and one Desktop with LAN, high processor speeds, but low Ram. what do you recommend?

Does your desktop have a graphics card? I would be wary using your laptop for mining as it is likley to get cooked with the heat.
If your looking for a cost effective mining graphics card for NeoScrypt.
The Nvidia 750ti gets around 40khs for around £100 (but uses very little power)
The AMD R9 270 gets around 45-50khs for around the same price.
The AMD R9 280x or R9 290 get around 100khs but cost up to £300.They seem to be the main cards people are using. I personaly went for NVidia cards due to the lower power usage :)

thank you. i’m actualy very very low on money, and i have no PCI/PCI-e slots available. my laptop has integrated graphics, but i am able to run some high-res games such as Deus-Ex HR (NVidia has bad support for many of the games anyways).
also can i get a tutorial for a mining program? i’m confused on how to set it up.

Well you should be able to mine with your laptop integrated graphics (and or your CPU as with NeoScrypt a decent CPU can still be a viable miner)
There are some really good guides for setting up a miner in the guides section but as we have just moved over to NeoScrypt most are out of date (although the basics are the same)
If you are on windows it should be pretty straight forward as there is a precompiled Miner for windows. -
