Taken from thread ‘Welcome to the new forum’
Discussion Thread for Updates or bug fixes to the Feathercoin Forum web site :

Just noticed old links to the site are ending with a Cloudflare message as, there is an extra bit in the link, on the old site. Clould we get Cloudflare to give information on how to remove the incorrect part of the link?
“The page you are looking for cannot be found.” or pop a search box up?
To : on the new forum…
-
@wrapper I’m not sure that is something that cloudflare will be able to help us with, thats just how the different types of forum software generate the page links, so unfortunately we are stuck with the problem :(
-
If we had a list we could map the redirects?
-
@wrapper
I just tried the link in your post and it worked quite well. I get to the thread. -
the 1st link in his post doesn’t work, more interestingly the 2nd link is not forced down https maybe that is something I need to look at to force all traffic to the ftc servers down https

@uncle_muddy
It should be possible to redirect all http requests to https in nginx config -
Cheers for that, it would be nice to keep links if anything can be done…

Just a note :
The new forum layout is good, and is looking much neater and easier to find things.
But now we have moved “Support” to underneth “Guides” in the menu (so people try there first) , it would be nice to add a description.
/guides/support
Support is for issues with the Feathercoin Wallet and Feathercoin Blockchain DaemonThat is to keep the “support” on core projects, other issues being covered under discussion, mining or technical developments as applicable …

Done as requested ;)

Had a reply from NodeBB about the bug in updating the “Chat Box Edits” we found in 0.9.3 :
https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/issues/4131#issuecomment-177661090
what git revision are you on?git rev-parse HEAD
also your Persona version ?
npm ls nodebb-theme-persona

Answered on you behalf on github

NodeBB are awsome, fix is identified and pushed for the bug in updating the “Chat Box Edits”. Someone did forget to update the screen after editing previous chats when the UIDs were included …
Hopefully it’ll be in NodeBB 0.9.4 -
Just upgraded the forum to v0.9.4
I’m not sure, if the chat code has been updated and fixed

Since changing over to Neoscrypt and GPUs only mining from a peak FTC hash rate (with ASICs and Scrypt), there has been a reduction in FTC “Difficulty” reading.
Difficulty is adjusted with hash power on the network, so it is an excellent indicator of the number of “miners”. However, the difficulty is constantly adjusting, so all readings are an average. Feathercoind can be poled to output any required average period, for each block.
In retrospect, when neoscrypt was programmed we should have multiplied the difficulty reading back up, so it was the equivalent of the scrypt “Difficulty” reading. The same thing happened to Litecoin when it used scrypt there are less hashes for the same “security strength” in Bitcoin which is all hashes and no scrypt.
Viewing coinplorer therefore looks strange to anyone who does not understand the history.
https://coinplorer.com/Charts/Difficulty/FTC
What can the trend of difficulty show us?
For the last 6 months FTC has been running at a difficulty of ~ 2.5 neoscrypt difficulty per day
Since April 2016 the difficulty has doubled to 7.0 peaking at 22 at the end of April.
The current FTC difficulty has settled to ~ 3.5 per dayIt would therefore be good to have FTC Difficulty chart in tools drop down menu. It would positive feedback showing the consistent strength of the network.
I also note that we used to have tools in the forum drop downs, which was useful, and where visitors hang out…
Resources needed:
The difficulty for historical periods and lengths can be extracted from Feathercoind
At simplest : a chart of last weeks daily difficulty.
-
@wrapper : the charts where taken from external sites, but some of the sites are gone, or our newer software doesn’t have an interface available to pull the charts.
-
This difficulty chart on Blockchain.info seems more informative

These are some additional charts I am thinking, the resources seem OK.
I or someone might volunteer to host some charts.
As you know, our p2pool mirror site got closed down by Digital Ocean when the Tories came in and changed the rules so you couldn’t pay by paypal (have an anonymous account). But I have been looking for something similar (to set up pool20 on again) and not U$A based …
Also,if we had that mechanism i.e script or chron txt output to chart, we could host the p2pool difficulty charts we created …
plus : someone might have a cleverer idea, how to do it. or know that a NodeBB addon does that already?

It maybe because Firefox on Linux not MAC, but been testing the download pages and get this on the MAC page :
Reported Unwanted Software Page!
This web page at www.feathercoin.com has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences.
Unwanted software pages try to install software that can be deceptive and affect your system in unexpected ways.
The Windows download works though …
-
@wrapper I think, that still is related to the binaries, that can be downloaded from the main page.
the Mac version of the browser doesn’t like the mining code in the wallet.
