How much progress is being made on this technology ?

I have come across this coin/team/project and done some research. From your GITHub I can see that there isn’t a lot of development going on there. Is the much going on in the background ? What does the future look like for FeatherCoin ?
Thank you

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Where exactly did you look on our github ?
Example: some of us were working this weekend and pushed code to our test branches in our github…

Hi and welcome to Feathercoin.
Trying to be brief :

Feathercoin is an open source project, so it is just my opinion but, a lot of novel development and integration of other requested features has been done in version 0.9.6.1 of the Feathercoin software.
These features were added with bounties and volunteer work at the request of Feathercoin members.
Development of new features is not the only function of the project. For instance, as a long term currency it is important to have some quality control. The current (Dev) team has concentrated on ensuring the long term ability of the development forum, building and releasing software to run a wide range of Operating systems.
The previous lead developer (Lizhi) failed to start a foundation, or raise whale funding. The current team have therefore concentrated on ensuring the coin is supportable by volunteers. One way is to continue to leveraging the development investment in Bitcoin blockchain technology, as the most tested and secure code.
Whilst it might be nice to pay some programmers and have a foundation, it is not essential to maintain a mine-able network.
It is actually not up to the team to define how the technology is used, but examination of the evidence of use of and interest in Feathercoin, whilst not at Bitcoin or Litecoin level there are substantial figures, per hour and per day.
The team were very encouraged by the higher than expected (to us) download figures for Feathercoin 0.9.6.1.
Whilst it could obviously do much more, currently there is ~$700,000 per day transfered over Feathercoin (even with the current price.) Last check, the transfer rate was ~400 times the fees.

Some of us have been involved with FTC from early on and know the wide contribution other members have made, I personally have learned so much by trying to mine my own coins and Feathercoin has helped a lot of people learn about crypto currency and the blockchain.

@AcidD I was just looking here : https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin on the master branch. Last commit seemed to be 25 days ago. I was just wondering if this is worth investing in to

@reko91 - So the Master branch is the final “production” code. We dont commit to that branch every day as the code in that branch is Frozen…which means no one touches it because it’s “production” code.

Feathercoin is currently being developed by forum staff and members. FTC has a number of previous developers who have assisted, if available. Some of which have indicated they would assist in some future projects.
You can see what work is ongoing here : https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/commits/0.11.2
You still might not be satisfied, as we may not release 0.11.2 and we are only currently adding in FTC specific and additional codes and functions. We have a number of difficult areas to work on (negating further help), Openssl being removed, retaining the alert system and integrating ACP being the most urgent.
Also, we have just spent about a year working on refining and testing, and have just released Feathercoin version 0.9.6.1. In order to keep stability and not make users, miners and pools upgrade, it is not envisioned to make another release for 6 months.
