wallet from 2014 wont sync

Welcome to the Forum first :DIf your Wallet is from 2014, I assume it has a 0.6.x or 0.8.x version number and is totally outdated.
What you need to do:
- locate the wallet.dat file on your PC.
it is located:- Windows: %appdata%\feathercoin
of %appdata%.feathercoin - Linux ~/.feathercoin ( ~ = the user’s home directory)
- Windows: %appdata%\feathercoin
- copy the wallet.dat file to a secure place
- download the latest wallet:
- windows: https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/releases
select the latest and newest binary you can find
- windows: https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin/releases
- linux: https://software.opensuse.org/package/feathercoin
select your OS, click ‘show unstable’ and install the newest version (0.9.6.2 at today)
or follow the procedure heret
If you want to compile the code yourself, follow the instructions in the howto area here in the forum (top menu->tags->honto)
- when the new wallet is working replace the new created wallet.dat with the one you copied away and start the wallet with the -resync option
That way the coins from the old wallet are recovered

thanks, i will do your steps… but before i do… how do i get the coins from the old wallet into the new one… as i presume the new wallet is empty… and another question… something i dont recall … if the wallet is out of date… would it still show the amount of coins i actualy have… or does that appear when in sync… thanks for your help so far… new to the forum… old owner of feathers tho :)

@coinsbee your wallet.dat file contains all the information of the wallet (public and private key), it’s just your actual wallet program is out of date. Installing a newer version of Feather Core and pasting in the old wallet.dat file into the folder will just update it and keep all of your old addresses

and replacing i do in the command line area?? installed new one… old one still on computer and usb stick… have seen the wallet.dat … but as a layman i dont know where to replace …

@coinsbee what OS are you using?

windows vista from 2007 with 32 bits… so it might take a few weeks to get wallet up and running… dont laugh please… i have other scills :)

@coinsbee should be under c:/users/<your user>/app data/roaming/feathercoin/
Just replace the new wallet.dat file with the old one you backed up, and then sync to the network. Also as a side note, 0.9.6.2 has just been released a few minutes ago which should be a lot faster syncing compared to 0.9.6.1 which I imagine you’ve just downloaded -
yes , the new one is downloading now… still 4 years and 16 weeks to go… i will wait first when wallet is in sync and then try to replace… somehow… its a bit freaky doing this… money in the no… dont wanne make mistakes… … i will drop a line when its working… or replacing old for new one … as i guess its better to wait to do wallet.dat replacing ?? thanks for your help so far by the way… greetings from Holland

@coinsbee did you already get hold of the 0.9.6.2 version?
it’s released about 30 minutes ago and much faster to sync than the older versions -
@coinsbee I wouldn’t waste your time with 0.9.6.1, it’ll take days or a week to sync. Definitely grab 0.9.6.2 from github

well , it must mean something no… looking at it today , and then new wallet aswell… as i enjoyed the btc-e trollbox … sometimes… i would say to the moon feathers !! 0.80 euro cent before the end of the year … come on whales… its happening :)
