appdata refers to %appdata% in windows systems, what is a variable defining the directory, where applications store their data.

@wellenreiter Hi wrapper, yes I understand. Access to appdata appears via My Computer C drive. Wallet still syncing, 3 years 30 months to go, but still no sign of wallet address…Alan

before starting the wallet, did you place the wallet.dat from your backup into the %appdata%.feathercoin directory?

@wellenreiter Hi wellenreiter, no have still not put info from my USB stick into appdata, as it seemed pointless with no wallet address. The info from my USB stick is now on my desktop…regards, Alan

Just copy your backup (wallet.dat) into My Computer C: \ Decuments and Settings \ youruser \ %appdata% \ Feathercoin

and replace there the wallet.dat - start up the feathercoin-qt (.exe) application and log in …

                    I don’t use windows tho’

Try this : Go to Start -> Run (or press WinKey+R) and run this:

                        %APPDATA%\Feathercoin

If that don’t work ask your admin. Those directories could be hidden by your Admin.

also check again in explorer, my fault typo? :

                        C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\ %APPDATA% \ Feathercoin ( XP )

                        C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Feathercoin (Vista and 7)

If you haven’t run the program yet the directory won’t exist.

                          When you run feathercoin-qt.exe :

You should choose to put the wallet in a directory on the C: drive

instead of the default directory in Users …

A directory you have access to (I suggest c:\wallets\ ) You can then find that folder easily to copy in the back-up wallet.dat.

Well done. If you are copying the backup in then paste did it say are you sure you want to copy over wallet.dat?

You should see a different date for the new (backup) file?

You haven’t described what you have done enough to know if you have done it correctly

Opened explorer found and opened the USB, right clicked on wallet.dat, chose copy from the menu

then in file explorer --opened C:\users\youruser\ %APPDATA% \ roaming found Feathercoin

Clicked on that folder and pasted the backup wallet.dat file - are you sure you want to over write wallet.dat? then clicked yes. Then restarted feathercoin-qt.exe

                                    later - gotta go.

@wrapper Hi wrapper, it all seems to have gone wrong. I pasted USB stick info into wallet, and then feathercoin app would not open saying… wallet corrupt…then tried to start again by uninstalling everything and re installing .But it just keeps saying wallet corrupt. Tried this a few times, changed browsers etc but to no avail…Alan

@harmoye22 Did you copyed all files over or just the wallet.dat?

You should only paste the wallet.dat into the directory.

Fraid we can’t diagnose whats up without seeing it, running blind here. You can fix currupt wallets (if that is the problem) or extract the keys. You will need someone with more computer knowledge to help.
