How to restore coins after updating wallet

I have my wallet from before the update saved on a flash drive.
I saved the installation file for 11 into a different location than version 10.
After installing the update, my wallet shows 0 coins. Even in I close out of it, and reopen version 10, I am still showing 0 coins. My original plan was to just go into the version 10 wallet, and send the coins to the new address of my version 11 wallet, but I can’t do that since I am showing 0 coins.
What do I need to do with my wallet file, and how do I do a rescan to get these coins to reappear?
