Nsgminer 0.9.2 Vs 0.9.4
-
Hi guys, I’ve been using v0.9.2 to mine over the last week or two and then discovered that 0.9.4 has been around awhile so downloaded it. So far my hash rate appears to be half of that using the older version. Is there a reason for this? Are there settings within the miner I am yet to discover that would make the difference?
Thanks -
Hi and welcome, someone might comment. What are the rates you had? , what was the batch file and config? which OS? what card? - might help.

well im on win10 using a 1gb geforce 9800 gt. i know its not profitable but its helped me learn a lot and makes (some) use of the power the PC wastes being on most of the day anyways.
the batch file i’m using has this in it:setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt -g 1 -w 128 -I 16 -o stratum+tcp://s1.theblocksfactory.com:3333 -O offtherecord.workname:xxxon 0.9.2 after playing with command line in nvidia folder and the control panel i can get between 20-25kh/s
but on 0.9.4 i barely reach above 8-15kh/s
i did have to copy from 0.9.2 this bin file for 0.9.4 to recognize my gpu: neoscryptGeForce9800GTgw128l4.binwhich i assume may not be exactly right for the later version but it got things started :)

I don’t think 0.9.4 is @ghostlander work. As he has only recently released 0.9.3. As I looked to see if there is another version myself and then got a response from him saying that 0.9.3 was just released.
I would check who develop that miner. AS it never work for me on my AMD cards making there hash rate from 520KH/s to 250KH/s. I did look at the program a bit but I’m still learning how to create a mining program.
-
It’s listed on his github as a precompiled release, which is why I ask. But if that is the case then I shall download 0.9.3 and see what results I get from it.
I just can’t wait until I can afford a decent GPU to mine with as my 9800 GT is pretty diabolical :D -
Heres the Github link to NSGminer releases.

Whoops, forgot to add that to my previous post :3

You should check the main NSGMiner post on Bitcointalk…when software gets updated things change…you cannot blindly assume your bat file will just work with the newer software/ Miner version.

In the above link, you can see Ghostlander has left examples of how the new version works.
Your Version (The OLD Version)
nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt
The new version - you need to specify kernal with
nsgminer -k neoscrypt
make sense ?

Thank you for the info, i do try to find information on these things but often find myself getting a bit lost :3

Don’t be fooled, mining is still being involved with bleeding edge stuff, and things have got easier …

@wrapper if things are easier than they used to be then i’m glad ive only recently joined in ;) its been uphill struggle from the start, then again having shoddy old hardware doesn’t particularly help things :D

Not exactly clear about the situation here but can you explain what is the problem or issue with the latest version here? What harm it could do?
-
my issue is that the latest version seems to run slower than the older version. but this is more likely an issue my end than a problem with the software.
