Hi from The Netherlands

I am RV1969, mining and trading all the coins I can get a hold of.

What’s the mining community like in the Netherlands? How cheap is electricity? I know there are huge mining communities for cryptocurrencies in the southern eastern parts of Europe near the Balkans

Hi =)
Im also from The Netherlands ;).
Electricity is pretty expensive, around €0,21 kw/h ($0.28).

That’s what I figured. It wouldn’t make it the most ideal location for mining then. -
Belgium is a bit cheaper , including taxes etc I pay around 0,18 € / kwh
Would be cheaper if I only mine at night (cheaper rates then)

You have different day/evening usage rates? o-o;
That sounds rather ideal to be honest xD -
Yes, during the day hours 07:00 and 19:00 we pay a little higher rate than between 19:00 and 07:00
Since most of us have a double automatic meter installed you can benifit by doing laundry etc after hours (when most companies are closed and the grid has an excess in power)Some people prefer the single meter and get the same rate for all hours

If you can make use of it and aren’t a dedicated miner, this sort of scheme could really benefit quite a lot of people (+your laundry and such too). I don’t know to such a scheme in the UK (and I’ve just swapped provider, and offtopic thanks for reminding me I need to setup the web account >w>;; ). -
That’s pretty cool about Belgium. Bulgaria and Serbia seem to have the cheapest electricity. Bulgaria has the added advantage of having the second fastest internet speed in Europe (Romania is the fastest). Serbia isn’t part of the EU, and so is cheaper with general costs - I know big miners in Serbia (I buy a lot of my bitcoin from Serbia). When it comes to mining, Eastern Europe seems to be ruling supreme. From what I know, Netherlands is one of the more expensive parts of Europe in terms of electricity costs, similarly along with Germany and the general Northern part of Europe.
