New Feathercoin Community Service - BETA Today!!
-
Now that we have a community foundation the next step is to give everyone a chance to spend their Feathercoins. The focus for the team I am in, is now on coin usability. We are working on making it an easy for merchants to accept Feathercoin for their goods and services and to allow people to become merchants themselves without having to try and trade over a forum.
I am creating a new Feathercoin service for the community to use as the first step which will be followed soon by several tools to support merchants. This new site will be available as a beta tomorrow at 10:00AM GMT and will be officially announced on Monday at the same time.

I will post more details tomorrow at the time above. Tomorrow will be the final day of testing before we go official on Monday and I would ask you not to advertise what is going on here until then. We do not want exposure ahead of time incase any show stopping bugs turn up. I doubt that this will be the case and there are several people on hand to deal with any issues that arise.Justabitoftime will start an activism thread on Monday to allow us all to promote the service in an orderly fashion :)

Can’t wait! Soon I’ll be able to start sending my letter to non-crypto small sellers! :D
Does anyone here sell or know someone who sells on Etsy? I tried to make a Feathercoin community there with my buyer account (as there is a Bitcoin community of sellers who accept Bitcoin), but I when I click the create button it doesn’t do anything but shows no errors… it does this with all my browsers :o

I really like this.

I hope FTC adopts an early plan to not accept officially any business that is illegal , illicit or immoral that will bring negative attention towards it. Such as drug dealers, prostitutes, cigarettes (Not dual use tobacco that is legal to ship across state lines), pornography (which is sometimes illegal in certain states, counties, cities) nor businesses located in Occupied territories or zones. I think it would be advantageous to adopt an early “Conscientious” plan that will keep FTC out of the governments eyes like others have or offend human rights groups that may turn toward us. Its good to be in the limelight but not the wrong light.
Personally, I don’t want to head down that path. As an open source project, there’s absolutely nothing we can do to allow/deny someone that wants to use the coin. As far as immoral, I don’t want to spend any time trying to make those determinations. Everyone will rally behind their own ideas, that’s the sheer beauty of this community. I hope each of embrace the differences and find ways that their specific vision for the coin happens on some level.

The community as a whole with have different opinions here. I assume we’ll have to cross that bridge when we get there… right now, we’re just focused on giving everyone a way to trade their coins. I hear what you’re saying and respect the opinion.

I’m not gonna lie. I’m pretty damn excited. Keep it up Bushstar! You the man
-
Not only will this be a great benefit to the community, it’ll also help those on the front lines battle the attacks. One of the most common attacks:
“You can’t spend Feathercoin on anything”
Oh yeah? Not the case anymore. :)
I understand op’s concerns, but completely agree with Jbit.
I certainly don’t want the government regulating what non-violent vices people entertain themselves with, much less Feathercoin attempting to restrict it’s use for such things. It’s none of FTC’s business, in my opinion. It’s all about freedom and liberty, especially from control.
