I’m not sure if there’s a connection with Norse/Germanic Rune script Entimp.
Would be nice, but as far as I googled, florins were first minted in Italy in 1252.
The sign Æ’ is described in Unicode as follows.
U+0192 Æ’ ƒ Latin Small Letter F with hook

I kind of figured the feather would work as the logo.

Form a forum perspective a FTC logo (the feather) to be inserted into posts like bitcoin has on the BTCtalk forums would be awesome.

I’m not exactly sure how to implement this. I envision it wouldnt be that difficult.

@Smoothie:
The more people using the logo the better, but I was thinking about even more PR for feathercoin, in a way that the more things are settled the easier it will be to use and to promote.
I’m talking about future businesses and services who might consider using a shorthand notation for FTC.

+1 in a sense it is also branding on a micro level of text.

I support making this decision to solidify the community from the start.

Agreed. Now is the time to get this figured out before we have inconsistencies between future merchants.

Alternatively the old French Franc sign â‚£ could be used.

I am French, and I never saw “â‚£” sign in France before Euro came in 2002. I discovered it on Wikipedia just a few moments ago lol

We used only “F” sign for “Franc”, and sometimes “FF” (French Franc)

Anyway, “â‚£” would be my choice for Feathercoin, it seems all major currencies have a dash into their symbol ;)

Fehu aside, though I’m probably wrong on its connection… the symbol has to be an existing unicode character. Simply so that users can type it without relying on finding a font file to produce it. It would be nice to design our own one,

There is also “Latin capital letter f with hook” in the Unicode table.

Æ’

Although there are various glyphs of this letter.

at first I liked “â‚£”. But it’s in the Franco logo so I would avoid that. I would avoid any currency sign for a currency in usage (like the ฿ of Bitcoin that is the thai Baht currency sign of thailand)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency_sign

their is a lot of stylish F a like in the unicode that should be good to go

http://unicode-search.net/unicode-namesearch.pl?term=F

my favorite was U+1D571 but it can’t print in forum correctly without lots of work so a no go

we also have the feather one

U+169B áš› e1 9a 9b OGHAM FEATHER MARK
U+169C ᚜ e1 9a 9c OGHAM REVERSED FEATHER MARK

From the list that groll posted that would actually show up correctly on my computer, I like the Fraktur symbol U+1D509

A non-letter symbol as he suggested would also be unique and interesting.
