Rig stats and pics

I’m hardly a hardcore miner, but my 7850 is pushing along at ~302kh/s.
I’ve had it up significantly higher, but am pretty satisfied considering I’m only working at intensity 13.It means I can do other things on my rig… like read this pretty forum :)

I repurposed a few old computers, shockingly getting even 60khash out of some older cpus.Main effort is my aging 5770 that runs at about 190Khash when I go to itensity 18.
Sheesh how are you getting 60kash out of old CPUs? :) what software are you using?
I use minerd (pooler/cpuminer from github) on them under Ubuntu. Some old dual core cpus can even score strangely high, probably because they have a higher rate which these days get’s compensated with more cores (and lower clock speed). I run on an old toshiba Notebook, that’s at least 6 years old now with 26K hash even. These are speeds I read on the accepted messages from minerd, so they are the real ones, not some odd ones some pool s sometimes report on.
Thanks! will give it a shot this weekend or later tonight :)

Hi DeadZebra,
I’m getting about the same hashrate as you averaging about 610 per card.
I have 4 7950s on my board (3 cards in the pci16 slots and 1 in a pci1 slot) and for my next project I’m going to try to mount 6 7950’s to a board, I haven’t looked for a board that can take that or even if its worth doing because I heard you can fry your pci slots with too many cards, so my question to you personalty as you use the 7950, is would you limit your rig to 4 cards or try 6? -
I’m not sure about 6 but I think 5 might be fine because I have heard of many rigs using a 5 card setup but none using 6x 7950. You are going to need to use PCI-E risers for a 5card setup though I think.
I have the 4X 7950 setup on risers which is great for cooling, but I guess its a 5 card setup for the next rig, it must be a motherboard limit. Cheers for that.

I just ordered a 7 slot board and will try a 7x7950 rig :) I even found a supplier that sells PCIEx1 to 4 * PCIEx1 for about 180 a piece. If that works I might be able to do even more. Though the drivers only go until 8 I think.
-
Damn, feel bad. Mining for 9h straight and found 188 shares -.-’ ahh my GPU sucks…
Indeed! Are you making your own case? You should make a topic and take some pictures!
-
I’m making my own “case”, yes. I’ll weld steel together for it since I got easy access to it. I’ll start with a simply open frame and then see if adding sidepanels will improve airflow and temperatures. Working on a simple 3D model for it now so I got all the measurements right. I’ll make a thread and post pictures as soon as there is something to see. Apparently ordering 7 GPU’s at once is uncommon for my purchasing place of choice and so I’m still waiting on those. the rest would be ready.
Please keep us updated on that build, I’m attempting a 6 card rig for my next build,
the only quirk on my last build (4X 7950 see pic below)
I used a 16x riser connected to a 1X riser which was connected to the PCI1 slot as the 1Xriser cable was long enough to reach the fourth card.
What are your plans on heat management?
-
Working on the 3d model for it right this moment.
I will post pictures of that with explanations as soon as I’m done.
I noticed in builds like the one you showed here, that many say they have no space for more cards because the cables are too short, but then the board sits at the edge of the rig. If your rig was wider, you could use the ports on the right side easier. Or simply having the the board not sit at the edge but more to the left (on picture) would increase the possible space.

Getting my new rig today :) Will be setting up my new and old rig to use their CPU for mining as well :P

Pyxis - looks awfully like my rigs. 8)

Good god nutnut… Why don’t I have the money for this. Also noting the 3 pronged UK plug. Curisosity now gets the better of me, how much are you paying per KWh for your electric ?
-
Cost of leccy currently .1256/kwh but it should be dropping to .0941/kwh once British Gas pulls their finger out! :)

And how about the standing charge, your upfront fee? ^^;
(I’m only curious because I’ve recently swapped providers myself. My new tariff is £0.18/day standing charge and £0.1197 kwh with EDF) -
NutNut that looks like a sweet ass rig 8)
