I need your input FTC Community - What would you like to see happen?
-
Feathercoin Community,
I want to hear from each of you. Please answer the following:
1. What are we doing right?
2. What could we (the community, development etc…) be doing differently?
3. What features would you like to see with FTC?
4. What challenges do you personally face when promoting the coin?
5. What part would you like to play within the community. The future of Feathercoin is in all our hands. I’d like to start an open discussion and start mapping out our short-term/long-term plans. While I can’t promise every recommendation is feasible for the coin, I will certainly work with Bush to help with the direction. I don’t own millions of coins, I’m not a hired employee, just some guy that believes with that right people in a community, anything is possible. I enjoy silencing critics. :)

1. It’s not constructive to say ‘everything’, but there isn’t much I can fault FTC on at present. The difficulty and nature of the coin means it’ll be subject to people hopping coins and leaving others with the cleanup mess. (Current FTC difficulty and now lack of miners)
Specifically, I’d like to point out that yourself and others, are helping the community to expand and fairly rapidly. Early adopters of this coin seem keen to show it’s potential.2. Differently, I’d say that the community is heading in the right direction as it is. Development wise, not much comes to mind either unfortunately. Yay what help I am. :P
3. Not just in FTC but across all crytopgrahic currencies, I’d like to see a more ‘real world’ existence of the currency. The likes of a ‘crypto-debit card’ sort of thing would really open up the world of digital currencies for everyone to use. I think this ia a long term ambition for you and others but sooner or later I hope to see it become a reality.
4. Recently explained digital currencies to my parents, whilst my dad understands the concept and principal he doesn’t see how it can translate to ‘real world’ money. Certain generations and people live in a material world, whereby the likes of digital currencies are merely laughable because they have no substance to them.
I’m not trying to say I’m promoting digital currencies to my parents, just trying to educate them a little more. So until some form of physical proof can be provided they remain skeptical. xD5. Me, within the community… I see myself more as a meet and greet, offer a helping hand kinda person. I haven’t the experience in coding the backbone of cryptographic currencies (although would be very interested in learning x3) and I’m more better suited to just being around to answer questions and dig up information.
There are your answers justabitoftime, good luck making sense of them. ^_^

It would be extremely helpful to those of us trying to setup a new pool if someone published a version of mmc-fe for feathercoin. Same with pushpool if it could be done quickly. I am slowly trudging through trying to setup my pool right now and it is a minefield for sure…

1. What are we doing right?
I thinks it’s good that we are trying / becomming a real community full of people who want to see FeatherCoin for the long term, Trying to bring the FTC spirit to more and more people and trying to get merchants adopt and accept FeatherCoin as an payment option.2. What could we (the community, development etc…) be doing differently?
I think we are going in a good pace getting people to know the coin, we just need to ‘keep’ the miners mine and dont let them hop on and off.3. What features would you like to see with FTC?
It’s not really a feature and a matter of time to get more and more webshops accept FTC. The basics are good.4. What challenges do you personally face when promoting the coin?
The people who think FTC is a scam, and that it’s just a pump and dump coin.5. What part would you like to play within the community.
I would like to help as best a possible to promote the coin and also help out here on the forum! -
Yes, this is fantastic information!!! Who’s next? This is YOUR community, help us with the direction.

This place makes me feel we are on an awesome path.
Really amazing.

1. What are we doing right?
You have a coin some websites and a user base. Which has some faith in the coin
2. What could we (the community, development etc…) be doing differently?
Coin adoption needs to happen. Or there will be no demand for the coin other than miners trying to sell them on the exchanges.
3. What features would you like to see with FTC?
Some better guide to writing software for processing transactions.
4. What challenges do you personally face when promoting the coin?
No adoption / demand / use case for the coin. aka there is nowhere to spend it.
5. What part would you like to play within the community.
Development. I want to know how to process transactions preferably in c#. May make a website with some fun gambling based games and such likes.

1. Most everything. Definitely a community interaction lets users and adopters know that they coin isn’t going to be abandoned, and that their investment/participation is not for none.
2. So far it seems we’re doing as much as we can in a reasonable time frame. If bush has been playing with different features on Feathercoin on a test net to see what works, then I would definitely say we’re doing everything right.
3. Right now, it seems that doing something about the difficulty would help, saying that too many miners are using coinchoose or similar, and now they even have that autoswitching application released to automatically mine the “most profitable” coin. If there was a way to add to the Feathercoin code, say an override to the natural re-target time, that would be great. I was thinking something along the lines of it putting into memory the calculated hashrate of let’s say the past 500 blocks at its natural re-target time. Then, it monitors every 10 consecutive blocks for their calculated hashrate, and if that ever becomes less than 75% of what calculated hashrate done at the re-target time, it would automatically retarget and make that calculated hashrate its new re-target hashrate. I feel like all the words make it confusing, but if it sounds legitimate enough to implement I can explain it better if need be :p
4. The challenges right now is that people don’t see much value in it yet since it’s so new. With some merchant’s I’ve contacted, they present interest but don’t want to invest in something so new to the party. In addition, they would much rather use payment system such as Bitpay if they were to use Feathercoin. I guess the bottom line is Feathercoin doesn’t have that much trust as a currency as of yet.
5. I don’t have any special skills, but I’ll do what I can to help benefit :)

[/quote]#3 - Please send to Bush
#4 - I know bitpay systems are a hurdle. When I get back into town, I plan to shift more resources in that direction. I’m already putting up a matching bounty of 12k coins for a company to handle it.

1 persist until succeed!
2 may not doing differently easier. the most is application. More using more values.
3 may network stats and calculaters and chatroom in the client.
4 hard to answer.
5 DEVELOPER or other.
