How to get involved with feathercoin?
-
If you are okay with HTML (5 I assume) then CSS is a doddle. CSS is simply how you make the HTML look for the most part. It gets deeper but is very easy to grasp.
If you want to compliment your front end skills (HTML) then I would look at getting some client side scripting under your belt.
Javascript for example. You’ll find it an employable skill as well as useful to adding functionality to other people frontend layouts.
Thanks for the advice, I need to brush up on my skills. They are a few years out of date. ;)

Welcome to the community! There are many opportunities around the forums to help spread the word about Feathercoin.
Thanks d2. Really want to get mining, your pool looks great, but would love to help out with something else to beneficial to FTC as building a rig is not financially possible for me at the minute. :)

Owlie, where would you like to contribute…?
If I have any projects coming up I will let you know and perhaps you could let me know if you can help… :)
Keep you ear tuned, looking to sort out another meet where we want to get the Ox University students involved, perhaps you would like to help on this…? ?
Keep me posted :)
Or any students or gamers involved :)
I am going to to keep an eye out for projects I feel I could contribute to. I know it may be obvious given FTC is a cryptocurrency but a lot of what seems to be needed is computer knowledge. I am not a complete novice, I have an NVQ in IT and have run a couple of simple yet successful websites, however programming is not a strong point of mine. I like art and writing but not really sure how these skills could translate, maybe with flyer / leaflet / poster designing is about the best idea I have off the top of my head. I’m not sure how I could help with an Oxford meetup as I live in Devon, but if there is anything you think could help and be done from a distance I’ll try to help out. :)

Artwork is allways appreciated!
Also writing skills is great.
For example a great way to contribute is to make tutorials/guides, being a “newbie” as you stated is great for that stuff.
Since you know exactly what you felt was/are missing regarding starting from scratch. Maybe you found learning how to grasp the concept of digital wallet was hard? in that case why not write a guide/article about it. (just an example) :D -
This sounds like a really interesting idea. Maybe writing a newbie guide is a great way to contribute. Maybe some sort of introduction to FTC for the complete novice, like what is cryptocurrency, the basic concept of a digital wallet, the differences between BTC, LTC and FTC, etc…
-
Maybe a FTC session in Devon/Cornwall ;) My fave part of the world.
Yeah sure I will give it a go. A newbie explanation of Cryptocurrency, including concept, block chain, digital wallets, mining, positive / negative, usage and coin examples / differences (BTC, LTC, FTC). Cool. Would you be able to proof read it if I PM you before I post it on the forum? :)
-
Owlie, that’d be great, its something we can use when talking to students / gamers and merchants and the general public when introducing them to FTC :)

Did about two hours work on this newbie guide last night and just did another couple. Think I’m about 75% done. Learnt a lot myself writing it so hopefully will help others. Can someone proof read it for me when I think I’m done? Have written in notepad (.txt) can email or simply copy and paste into a PM. :)

From browsing this forum I can see that Feathercoin is definitely a community coin and has a lot of support. I really want to get involved in supporting Feathercoin myself, as I see it as the most exciting crypto at the moment. I was wondering what is the best way to get involved? Mining is an obvious way but beyond CPU I don’t currently have the hardware mine. I hope this will change when I have saved up for a basic rig but for now it is not an option. Are there any suggestions or opportunities to get involved with the Feathercoin community. I am a relative newbie based in the UK with just a few months experience using BTC, LTC and FTC. Any guidance much appreciated so thanks in advance. :)
Well cpu mining is quite slow (so is GPU mining if you are like me using Nvidia) but if you get a few FTC to start you can do trading on a couple sites like bter.com . I am testing the waters a bit with them as I am still new to a lot of this…but hey it’s fun. -
I think my newbie guide is finished. What should I do with it now? ;D
-
Owlie, Please, send it to me ruth.bushnell@feathercoin.com
If anyone with tech background can harp in too that would be great :)

Just sent it over. Thanks in advance for taking a look. :)
