Oh no, I wasn’t expecting any one person to cover that many coins haha. It wouldn’t even have to be FTC if someone wanted to donate to the cause. I myself would be willing to donate 5k FTC towards the purpose, just because I’m that hopeful in it and want to show my commitment to making it work. I think it would also be a big hit to disbelievers if they saw such a service up so quickly as well.
If we could get a 50k coin bounty, that would say something! You are absolutely right, this would be such a major push for our service. One of my highest priority items next week… thankfully, many of the other projects are already flowing.

I’m afraid FTC is too young for big market players to get interested. It isn’t an easy task either to set up a service like Coinbase. They raised $600K of initial funding last year and received additional $5M in venture funds this week. I doubt our community can afford nearly that much. FTC ihas been listed already by large exchanges, so the key objective is to build up the reputation. Many people still think it’s a pump and dump scam coin. That’s what has to be fixed first.
That’s the thing though, people will continue to think it’s a pump and dump until it starts being accepted by currency… Unfortunately a lot of merchants, particularly the ones who have replied to my emails, would like some legitimacy through such a service for them to accept it :( I mean any type of payment solution at this point would be a plus, even something that transfers the coins and logs the transaction so the sellers know which customer the payment came from. From there I suppose it could evolve into something bigger such as Coinbase.
-
It’s a pickle, no doubt about that. We have heard back from smaller processors that are willing to hear more… that relationship is going to take time. As far as reputation, I agree, we need to be a community that’s seen as moving forward rather than a pump and dump.
There will always be those in the crypto world that will yell obnoxious terms like scam coin this and crap coin that… I get it, you don’t have to look too far on Youtube comments to see that mentality. We are better than this… this is our time to show what we can do when we come together.
Now it’s time for us to be very creative. I got your back and willing to spend quite a bit of my own money doing it. I believe we can break out of this bubble and attract others into this world. Heck, I use to spend my weekends painting signs and freezing my butt off waving them for grassroots projects. I like the people, the message and was willing to make it work… others will come.

Well I do own peermarket.net. I guess I’ll go ahead and set that thing on fire now.
-
I’m interested in building up a similar type of service as an extension of my company in Australia. It’s just a lot of development work… Shouldn’t be too much effort to get some sort of MVP up and running though. Any other developers interested?

I will match justabitoftime’s contribution to the bounty of 12,000FTC. I would like to contribute more but want to hold on to some of my rapidly declining coins. All in all I have given out around 50,000FTC coins and that is continuing with additional work. We are getting an explorer styled in line with this site and I have approached xchrix to recreate his market charts on our site. He is behind the charts found over at the site below.

Jeese, I only wish I had enough to donate 5k let alone 12k :o
I know it’s not much but i’ll donate 1k that brings us to a 30K FTC bounty so far. I only wish I had bought more ‘really’ cheap coins when they were on the Google Doc exchange :( -
Peer Market will be a downloadable GPL licensed peer to peer exchange platform completely unlike anything out there.
First milestone, run an exchange via gopher protocol.
-
Thanks UKMark, and yea I agree haha. I have 20BTC from selling TRC and PPC that I’m just waiting for FTC to do another big drop to buy more :p (if it goes down again). And that’s great zerodrama and summatix! Great news to hear you guys are working on something!

This is a rather ambitious project. Good luck. Most people don’t want to have to download something in this web dominated society, but it’s difficult to make a purely decentralised open source exchange that is web based.
-
What if it’s as easy as a Firefox extension? :)
Now might be your time, seems like a buy sell war is breaking out 125 BTC to move up 0.0001 to 0.002 and about the same to hit the floor :o
-
Haha yea I’ve been keeping an eye on it. The buy orders have gone from almost 500 BTC to 316 BTC now too

I just quickly threw this together: http://feather.lokifund.com/
Not concerned about GUI atm, just fleshing out functionality and what direction Feathercoin should head. My idea is to essentially do the same thing as Coinbase. What are people wanting to see? Also will need to work on selling points for Feathercoin.
Eventually the goal would be to integrate with banks to buy FTC directly, but that’s further down the track…

That would be cool. Though I use Chrome most of the time ;) -
That looks really nice! And yea something like that is definitely what a lot of merchants are looking for… a kind of one click type payment system they can implement on sites.
As for browsers, I like using Opera :D
-
I used to use Opera, but site compatibility is too poor.
What really needs to be worked on are the advantages of Feathercoin and the selling points of a new platform, otherwise merchants are just going to be left asking why they don’t just use the already established bitpay and coinbase services.
And please, nobody create an underground illegal marketplace using Feathercoin. This at least is one advantage over Bitcoin and Litecoin, as they’re receiving negative attention due to illegal misuses. It really comes down to branding and PR. You can’t control how the currency will be used, but you can control its image, and the marketing is what’s really going to set Feathercoin apart.
-
Those marketplaces will soon accept LTC and FTC anyways. They’d have to be daft not to.
This is why I want to make the marketplace peer to peer. Deployment difficulty is what is causing all the illegal trade and scamming. Make the software easier than running torrent and you’ll mom and pop shops running FTC trades for goods in no time.
As for bankers, we don’t need to hold their hands nor do we need to bow down to their model.
Instead we should push feathercoin for oil and electric and for truckers to get a better rate on their miles credits. People need heat in the winter and truckers are making money like new bands make money from Hollywood: pennies on the dollar.

I was probably one of the first 12 people in the first faucet post on bitcointalk and have been avid since. My site will be done way after this bounty is collected… but any insight, thoughts, encouragement, constructive criticism is much appreciated. The current site is just a wordpress, I’m just playing with the url tree while I wait for the green light.
I build websites for a Financial Group and I’ve done very well for them. My Business Plan draft is on some money desks but some of you probably know that’s the time consuming part. I mean to do this up proper if it takes 1.2 years.
(ps if any of you need me to look over website code for section 508, seo, valid html etc, let meh now)
