I'm going to be posting a viability calculator for current and future coins

Hi.

So there’s two schools of thought. Some believe every new thing should be on the market for some long time and grow organically and yada yada yada.
Others who have the slightest clue about business know that the first product has the most risk, but once you prove a model you prove it for everyone.

I’m in the second camp, so I will be calculating viability based on the following metrics: volatility, exchange, participation, and reputation.
Each of these metrics will have 4 scales: personal, private, practical, public.

The purpose is to allow shops to worry only about supply and demand mechanics and for US to worry about meeting a self-imposed standard. The barrier to entry vanishes.

Volatility:
---- public: can there be long term stability so that business and public can use the currency
---- personal: how fast does the difficulty retarget when people are hopping between coins
---- private: are short term gains long enough to adjust to unfortunate events such as scams, configuration problems, hardware failures
---- practical: how does the balance between short term gains and long term stability work out

Exchange:
---- public: are exchanges accepting trades across multiple currencies for the coin
---- personal: can you easily move money into coin when you need to
---- private: can you quickly mine and exchange coin without issues
---- practical: can you reliably lend and invest in projects

Participation:
---- public: was there plenty of awareness before release
---- personal: can people get in with everyday hardware
---- private: can active people who have ideas but are not gamers and techies mine to fund the use of their expertise
---- practical: can people stay in the mining long enough to incorporate mining into their productivity

Reputation:
---- public: is there source code
---- personal: do you understand the risks and benefits
---- private: are the pools, exchanges, forums, and businesses trustworthy
---- practical: does the design of the coin make it easy to manipulate

That’s 16 details to look at.
