Imitation Site
-
Hi, I’m Nick ODell of the Bitcoin StackExchange. An hour ago, we saw a user named John K promote a site called featherscoin com (note the ‘s’). He’s offering downloads of your software that are probably backdoored somehow.
Anyways, you have the usual options for dealing with impostor sites (report to host, WhoisGuard, dns host, google’s phishing list), but you also have an opportunity for mischief. While looking at his site, I noticed that he loads a resource directly from your site. Namely, http://www.feathercoin.com/img/feathercoin_waves2.jpg
If you replaced that with another image, it would probably be a less convincing fake. Just a thought.

Yep see that, google struggles and redirects to the legit site…
But its alive and real, cheers for heads up!
Everyone client is called: FeathercoinQT DO NOT DOWNLOAD! It may be payloaded, im just checking in a sand box against clam-av and malware bytes.
Bad URL: http://www.featherscoin.com/

OK Warning everyone, the feathercoinQT.zip is payloaded, just tested in a sandbox: Trojan.bitminer/IMWB.EXE/IMDCSC.EXE RUNNING IN PROCESS MAP.
Have to shovel this one upstairs for public release…

Thanks for the heads up Nick.

Thanks Nick for taking the time to post and thanks Bobweiser for doing the legwork and checking.
We also have a thread stickied about it in the main boards. http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=3271.0
