Dude you have to provide a fix ASAP.We are losing precious time and miners every hour!
A solution has been established, Bushstar wants to run it against a well known developer in the community before implementing. I understand the urgency, however, we need to make sure this hard fork is done correctly. The retarget is a big deal and something we want to make sure is mapped out perfectly. As Bushstar mentioned, we want to make sure we don’t become bubblecoin with huge leaps in difficulty and left in the dust.
With ASICs starting to push GPU big-rigs and apps to auto mine the most profitable coin, I don’t a little more time to make sure we do it right. If you’ve been following LTC, it’s difficulty is about to cause quite a stir.
-
Is it meaningless to mine feathercoins now before the new fork comes out?
Should i redirect my miners to ltc and wait for the new fork to come out? -
How will the hard fork affect mining pools? Will we need to stop mining at our pool for a while until fixes are made, or can we just continue with no negative impact?
Also, how will it impact our older earnings (ex. I don’t keep my FC client open, just open it every few days to get the latest transactions).
Huge leaps in difficulty is constipated coin. Bubblecoin is difficulty moving up too slow vs hashrate. You have to fight both tendencies. That’s why it should have a normal mode and an evasive action mode.

The fork will be done in a seamless way. People update their clients and carry on as normal. When we hit a certain block the new difficulty adjust will start working, at this point old clients will not be compatible.
The only thing you need to do is update your clients when the new version is released.

has the new client been released?

No time for personal nonsense, we have a lot to figure out as a community. Once I hear back from Bushstar, I’ll start coordinating efforts with everyone. If you’re not sure why I put the edit in your response, please feel free to pm me directly. Here’s what we’re going to do:
- Stay on task
- Avoid name calling
- Attack direction not the person
There’s plenty of other boards that the above 3 is acceptable, this is a place that’s accepting of different ideas and approaches.
So what you gonna do?
FTC is dying rapidly…I’ve seen lots of suggestions in here but nothing being done. Are you guys going to try and save it or let it die? If something isn’t done to turn things around soon, it’ll be a footnote in history. Already it’s worth less than a squirt of piss. By tomorrow morning it’ll be negative zero.
Real shame things went this way. I had really hoped the best for FTC…then it hit the exchanges and it looked like it stood a real chance. Almost immediately after, it began the downward spiral. So…what are you all going to do now?
Your concerns are obviously valid. Bushstar didn’t leave his current position to work on this fulltime to watch it die.
“glad I only wasted 3 days mining it. Now if I could only unload the 500 I have on some fool…”
You can certainly unload the 500 on me, I’d be happy to buy it up.
Sorry, I just checked the responses to my post yesterday. That may have come across wrong…I was really frustrated…still am! I’ve been putting much of my own effort into mining FTC with the faith that it will pay off in the end. However, it has so far returned very little. I couldn’t even connect a miner for about 2-3 days last week and became convinced the whole coin just vanished after hitting the exchanges.
Trying to keep up with things, but it’s difficult for someone who doesn’t have a lot of free time to put into keeping up. I just downloaded the new client 2 days ago and now being told another one will need to be downloaded…it’s a lot to try and keep up on.
Now there’s going to be a “hard fork”? Which sounds to me like my previously mined coins will become worthless and a new one is being introduced under the same name.
I don’t know…maybe trying to help out with a new coin is better left to those with more free time to invest. I can’t seem to keep up with all the changes and news being announced. It’s quite frustrating and I totally see why people have their doubts about new coins. Hell, I’ve had a hard enough time just trying to keep track of where everyone is…this is the 3rd forum I’ve tracked FTC through.
People have doubts because they’re mainly younger males who like the ‘My team rocks, your team sucks’ type mentality. Now, for the rest of the reasonable people… yes, new coins haven’t had the same opportunity to mature as something like Bitcoin. Now, looking back at Bitcoin’s history, that path wasn’t completely smooth sailing either.
Your coins will be fine, a new client coming soon. As far as 3 forums, feel free to just spend time with us… we’ll keep you in the know. Too much FUD out there on certain sites, we’re handling business here locally. While I can appreciate the ‘microwave generation’, it doesn’t hurt for us to take a step back and make smart decisions. I can’t imagine going to my former board of directors and trying to ram a solution down their throats.
Saving? That implies this coin is somehow dying. No. We have a full time developer, I’m treating this as a 2nd job (credentials in the ‘what do you do for a living’ section) and a community that’s second to none. I realize there’s some in the crypto world that wishes we’d just go away, well, it’s nice to dream. :)
If we can help you with anything specific, please let us know. I expect an announcement in the next 48 hours.

It’s an interesting time in cryptos:
- ASICs coming online
- GPU miners moving to scrypt coins
- Tools to autojump between most profitable mining
- LTC difficulty sky rocketing
Everyone has a right to be nervous. All I can say is I’m not going anywhere… as long as I have a community behind me. I’ll do and spend whatever it takes to move us forward. I’ve hired quite a few people outside the community for projects help, I’m okay with bringing in resources.
Cheers to all of us.

just grabbed some more *cheap* coins and pointed the lowly 6850 in my wife’s box to the pool. i figure i’ll try to fry it mining FTC like i did with the 6870 that it used to share the box with. maybe she won’t kill me should i let the smoke out of her remaining card 8)
Well…I must say that my own fears of FTC dying weren’t exactly resolved when I came here and saw this very thread titled “Life Support”. Talk about imp[lying that the coin is dying…
I would also like to clear up that your assumptions are quite incorrect…I am not part of the “microwave generation” and only in my fantasies am I young. None of that bears any weight to the fact that my personal experience so far with this coin has been flooded with negative results. I know it’s still young and people are working hard to make something of it, still it’s difficult to have much faith that the efforts will pay off when it appears that the coin vanished after hitting the exchanges. Which is exactly the way things looked to me when I saw the prices plummeting, couldn’t get connected to any node I tried with my miners, pools dried up and disappeared, forums that I had been following were suddenly getting no news if not for the negative…and on and on.
Again…FTC has not proven very “user friendly” so far. I’m hoping (yet again) that maybe things will now begin to shine in a more positive light.
One last thing…I have no “team” when it comes to crypto. It’s my belief that more is better! I have hope for the whole of crypto…which is accomplished from success of the many individual coins and not just one coin for everyone.
Please re-read… you are part of the reasonable people asking questions. There’s still work to do, that’s why we’re here. User friendly will be another focus moving forward… it’s a new coin, take a look at where Litecoin was during the same duration. We need it so user friendly my mom could use it… we’ll get there, not the least bit concerned.
There’s no going back… it’s only a question of what do we do right here, right now. Well… the plans are being laid out on the site. Your concerns are of course legit, I feel everyone is doing their best.
Well, that’s good to know! I just yesterday traded all of my BTC on BTC-e for FTC…thought I was looking at yet another negative experience with this coin.
Maybe things haven’t been so bad for others involved with this coin but my personal experience has been nothing but sh1t so far…but I keep on trying, hoping for the pot of gold at the end of the pile of sh1t ;D
Thanks for replying…read my edit to the last reply I left. Maybe it will help shed some light on my negative attitude the past few days.
Yeah I read your edit, I had about 3 days wasted too and was let down by a pool doing a bunk when the going got tough, that is why I recommend the community stands behind the ones who are around now in these difficult times, and be very wary of any new pools (or unheard of pools) appearing when the good times arrive!

None of the updates so far have been mandatory although I would always recommend people to upgrade. The next update will be mandatory. We are updating the client for Feathercoin. Nothing will be lost in the process and all your hard work will stand. I am working all the hours in the day to make this project work for everyone. After this update there should be no new updates until the community decides upon new features.
For what it is worth we got a small mention in the article below :)

EDIT:
Did I mention that several days worth of mining efforts were stolen by the pool I was mining in? Is it really any wonder why I’m irritated with FTC? I jumped on board full-throttle when I first heard about it and since that day it’s been nothing but one disaster after another. First the pool steals my FTC, then can’t connect to anything with my miners, then the value of the coin plummets to near nothing…plus the “community” seems to move to a different forum as soon as I catch up to it at the previous one.
Let’s just say that FTC hasn’t been the most “user friendly” coin I’ve invested in.
#1: You can trust give-me-ftc.com I bought my 5970 that I’m selling here from the owner of give-me-ltc.com (same person).
#2: Bitcointalk is not a great place for altcoins, too many Smeagols.
#3: Low starting difficulty will cause huge problems.
#4: A hard fork is a software fork. Not a new blockchain. A cold fork is a complete reboot. We are not doing that. Also 500 FTC would look nice in my wallet: 6r4SwvvkLTiic8EohobVGz66rXqoa6B8Xs. (just teasing)
