Hi guys ! I'm really needing (begging for) some help !
-
Hey,
Thank you guys for tying to help me out .
I tried to type “–scrypt” in the comand line, doesn’t work. To be sure I tryed “-scrypt” and “scrypt”. The first two get me an error like “unknow comand request”, the last one get me a “command unexpected”
So as I feel like I’m missing something in the whole setup of the software, I’m going to explain step by step what I do, and maybe one of you guys is going to see the mistake I make :
First, I double click on CGminer icon and I get this :
That’s where I’ve put the scrypt stuff you told me.The first time I used the software, I pressed “continue” without typing anything, then I had to put pool name, worker etc… just pool related stuff, no hardware/scrypt/special command stuff.
Then I get this page :
That’s all… Last night after a while, here’s what I could have :
Once again I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Maybe some of you sees something obvious ? If so, can I have a clear step by step answer to follow ? As if you needed to explain it to your granmma ? :)
Thanks for your time and help.

The most important information is on the last screen, you pasted:
It says at top of the screen:
(5s): 0.000 (avg): 0.000h/s
This means, that you are not mining at all!!
Even when missing the --scrypt parameter the program would show a hash rate here, just all shares you send to the pool server would be rejected or deleted…In the middle of same screen i says: ‘no devices found’
This means, that cgminer didn’t recognize any GPU- cards.
To me, it looks that you either don’t have a Radeon card in your system, or you are not on the lastest radon driver.

Id like to say welcome. I love the willingness to mine!
That said i would strongly suggest you don’t mine with a laptop. Its simply not worth it. Your hashing power will be low, it will create all kinds of heat, and will GREATLY reduce the lifespan of the laptop. Also you dont have the right video card for good mining.
If you just want to make a coin I can see if I can dig out the guiminer for mac. I have it on one of my Mac Pros at work. Just a warning though, I had lots of issues with it.

Well guys,
Thank you for your help and time.
@angloblaxon : yes, I know that mining on a laptop is a big no ! But it’s just to start feeling the vibe somehow before spending 500 euros on a starter kit… I’m considering it, but still want to figure it out. And I’m one of those guys that goes on and on forever until finding out ! I need to show my girlfriend that it’s possible to mine coins before I start speaking about buying a rig…
For the other users to catch up : I’m on mac, nvidia 9400, cgminer, and loosing patience !
So, to continue with my probs : I figured a way (lucky shot, adding -w64 in starting command, saw in a forum, don’t know why, but it works) to get my gpu at work. It shows 900 khs/s to 1.200 mhs/s
Now it’s hashing, but nothing shows up in my pool’s dashboard. Tried with 2 different pools, same result.
In d2 pool, my worker is shown as “inactive”, and my rates are at 0kh/s
In coinotron, same thing, all stats at 0Here comes a screenshot of my cgminer mining around :
I would really appreciate if somebody could help me through that one, and once again, even if mac laptop is not for mining, I just want to get started “for free” to get started, get my half ftc ruining my mac before I get tools that are made for mining.
And again, thank you for your time and help.

with those stats it sounds like you are still bitcoin farming. So your cgminer is running but its not solving anything related to feathercoin. The realistic number for those stats should be between 1 - 50 kh/s. if you see those numbers you are probably mining scrypt. I know it was mentioned before but since you added the difficulty have you kept the other settings like intensity and scrypt?
example of my basic feathercoin cgminer. this might be good to add to refine a few things. I added what i could pull up for your shader count too. try to copy this and run it.
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://websitehere.com:3336 -u angloblaxon.1 -p x --temp-cutoff 85 --shaders 16 --intensity 13 --worksize 64 -g 1
Also i have found this article interesting. I suggest you downgrade your version of cgminer. Give this a read. It basically saying version 3.7 is the last to support scrypt and graphics cards

Hey Guys !
So just to give you a quick update :
I tried a bunch of stuff to make it work, including your tips, but didn’t work. I guess trying to mine with a macbookpro is like trying to swim with a bike…
BUT ! I did manage to do something even harder ! I convinced my amazing girlfriend to go 50/50 on a mining rig !
So I guess I’m gonna be part of the feathercoins adventure by the end of the week, and that’s super exciting.
I just wanted to thank you guys that tried to help me with my mac, that looks like a sign that this community is actually a community.
Thank you all, and see you soon on threads like : "omg FTC hits 600$ ! "
Well, who knows ?
Take care and may the mining force be on your side :)
If ever you wanted to be my first coin :) :

Cool. She’s clearly a keeper.
What did you get?
-
Hey Kevlar !
She is more than a keeper, she is like getting 1000 bitcoins a day, I mean it. 5 years loving her everyday more :)
About the mining rig, I followed some guides on the web : Asrock ex4 for the mobo, 2 sapphire 7950 (a 3rd next week), and a corsair TX850M for the psu.
She is going to take care of making it looking good, I’m gonna take care of making it go top perfs !

And sorry about my ftc address’ goofy input, I didn’t know that signature settings where in the profile settings :)
-
I’m jelly! Send pics when it’s all ready and keep us updated!
-
I will !
-
Wow !
It worked !!!
I can’t believe it ! I tried this --scrypt hundreds of times last week, never worked !
I tried again for fun-sake knowing that a rig is on its way, and : Bam ! It works !
Drum roll please : 2 kh/s !! (with gpu intensity at 19, computer lasted 1 minute then crashed hahaha)
I guess I should have listened to the wise miners of this forum before struggling with my stupid idea.Well, thank you d2 !!
By the way : is it your pool the d2.cc ? If so I have an account there, and I would be happy to give my first “efforts” in your spot !Thank you ;)
