Hello, new to cryptocurrency
-
Hi guys,
After reading a lot about it and finding it rather interested I decided to check out cryptocurrency.
I chose to start out with FeatherCoin.I have some questions.
- Currently I’m mining at 8000 hashes / sec. Is this a lot ? I see my CPU running 100% ? Can’t I use my GPU which is more powerfull (Gaming PC)
- How long do I have to mine before I actually mine ‘something’ and how will I see it?
- Can I buy FeatherCoins with USD without buying BitCoins and then exchanging them to FeatherCoins?
- What’s the difference between pool mining & solo mining? Currently I’m solo mining because I need some extra dll or something to pool mine?
Kind regards,
Kevin -

My suggestion is that you start with pool mining to start receiving partial Feathercoins unless you just want to purchase Feathercoins.
I’m using a program called cpuminer (the executable is called minerd) so after the first setup it is quite easy.
Frankly the whole .conf file issue was confusing to me at first but I went through that process and now it is done, though I don’t think you really need it do you?
Join a pool first and then you can learn the details about how everything works.
I’m still wondering if solo mining is suitable with Feathercoin (lower chance of payout, but payout is bigger).

[/quote]So pool mining is a more steady resource than solo? Is there some list of pools I can join or is that the ‘MinerD’ thing you are talking about?
