Firstly, I think you have done a good thing, and I cannot say that of many other so-called alt cryptos. I like your attitude of concentrating on the problem, rather than on creating a bubble. I have a feeling that alt cryptos of the PPC type are destroying your reputation, and are the reason why I have discovered you only now. I’ve heard you’ve been through bad things, including stories about people from either LTC or PPC or both stealing your either forum, or staff, or something like that. It might be common knowledge here, but I am unable to clarify my question more. I read the story somewhere and I forgot where. Would you mind introducing me to this background story between either LTC or PPC or both and you?

Some day it will make a good book. ;) I don’t mind giving you my version, I suppose a few versions exist, you should check them all out.

The reason I joined the community was because I liked the attitude and people here, feathercoin has nice people here and other coins, well, they don’t seem nice, and that is my opinion.

LTC
A lot of people didn’t and don’t like FTC because the coin is a clone of LTC.
(Even though they forget that LTC is a clone of Tenebrix the first scrypt based coin, LTC is actually the 3rd scrypt based coin as far as I’m aware,)
The fact is we can do what ever we want with FTC is what really annoys them, I also guess they don’t like the free market idea, but they don’t like FTC because we are so similar, which is kinda sad really.

PPC
That is more recent history, Justabitoftime who did a lot of work for us packed his bags and moved on to PPC, he did good and he did bad here, we just hope he wont do bad for PPC.
Then on top of that feathercoin paid the PPC main Dev(Sunny King) to assist us in coding the checkpointing system we put in place to defend against attacks, so there is a bullshit story going about that he didn’t get credit when in fact he did and does.

So read all about Coblee (LTC), Sunny King (PPC), Bushstar(FTC) and Justabitoftime(currently PPC) on here or other forums(bitcointalk, litecoin.net, wherever the peercoin guys hang out) to get all what you need to know, I did.

Feathercoin has always been an open forum and all sorts of people got involved. They do not always represent the majority view of the forum.

Some of the things that happened were “idiotic” or deliberate either way they resulted in pump and dumps. As someone who pointed out the emperor had no clothes at the time, after giving them chance, after chance to learn.

For instance, to put a video on Youtube saying how some bad rumour about Feathercoin isn’t true, is mind numbingly stupid. Except if you wanted to create a rumour to depress the price to buy then sell later. All that whilst we are being DDosed and attacked by someone putting a 4K rig up for hours to try to destroy our network, AHHGGG.

That’s what can happen when everyone is given a chance and you put a self promoting egotist in charge of publicity. In the end, Feathercoin is still going and a few people learnt a hard lesson. It was particularly difficult for me, as I have experienced similar “sales” driven personalities cause havoc at commercial companies I have worked for.

I am so pleased, Chris and the rest of the team know we must sell trust and security for long term success.
