[ANN] Link - The Blockchain File Sharing Protocol
-
There’s been some work on crowd funding securely and safely. I agree, Kevlar was ahead of the game with “Link” and it is still bleeding edge. It would be a good project to get behind, next.
-
On the uTorrent forum, the user who deleted my post and banned my ip assumed it would cost money.
“Umm, so you need to pay to download stuff, then?
I think I’ll pass, haha.”The answer to this problem of paying to add links, might be to start a separate LInk block chain.
It could be maintained by users who wish to support the system. For instance, it could be a plug-in to u-torrent that where links are added to torrent block chain. It could use a PoS system as a basis of operation, or Bitmessage where work is required to add a message to the chain to reduce spam.

Hmm…if I donate now to some project he has to develop it right?
As I supppose he is no lightweight and his word counts.
Man it is so tempting to just pay all :)
Just paid for Tag Cloud, lest see how this develop. Trololol…

And he’s not ignoring us or anything, he’s just, gone.
Trust me, I’ve been stalking his online stuff he had tied together to no avail.
It’s like he’s had to Satoshi Nakamoto himself.
What about you?
I’m meeting with a Javascript expert next week in order to untangle the coffeescript so that I can better understand it.

Hello. I am back. What do you need explained?
-
Zero, could you say that you understand what Link/Flux is capable of more than anyone else (Aside from Kevlar)?
I’m trying to grasp still what this means for the torrent’s network and I have no clue what other things are possible… What do you think you can tell us right now?
Also, we need to get Link search capabilities built into the Qt… The site seems down now.

WTF… on the site is now rPI tutorial…

Hi Marcus!
My name’s Calem. I live up in Cairns and I’m the feathercoin project manager.
I do apoligise for bothering you but I have a random question in regards to the domain you have seemingly recently acquired.
Last year one of our devs created something Link and another created Flux. These protocols allow the embedding of metadata into the ftc blockchain.
Link is a protocol designed to allow publishing of data and associated meta-data to the public in such a way that it cannot be censored or destroyed. It works on top of existing blockchain protocols to store it’s data by embedding the information in the blockchain itself.
Essentially, the site you are using was up until recently a front end to search for magnet links embedded in our blockchain…
Thing is, our dev, Travis Savo aka Kevlar has seemingly disappeared and I’m now assuming he simply sold the domain.
Sorry for bothering you but if you could give me any insight as to what happened, that would be epic ahy.
Cheers,
Calem.

Ha, looks like an old DNS entry to a digitalocean VM.
Totally unrelated. Digitalocean recycle their IPs a lot, this is not the first time I’ve seen this happen.
Good luck contacting your dev.
Cheers

Hello. I am back. What do you need explained?
Welcome back.
Well, last time I booted it up on my VPS the big problem was that I was having trouble altering the ability for it to work with other coins. So when letting it run it would display miles of:
{ [Error: Invalid FedoraCoin address] code: -5 }
So, it seems it’s pulling my local client for the coin I was running, but then after saying that 100 times in a row it does this:
Starting indexing: 128100
Finished indexing: 128100Which, uh, is not anyone’s blockcount. Feathercoin, Fedoracoin or otherwise.
I have to be doing something wrong based on Kevlar’s instructions for deployment, but have no idea what it is.
