Can I mine FTC on my standard desktop PC?
-
I am completely new to FTC mining and have a somewhat incompetent question to ask. As stated in the Subject- I would like to know if I can use my standard desktop PC to mine. By ‘standard desktop PC’ I mean the PC I use everyday and do my work on. I would like to know if its possible to use my computer normally while a separate GPU was mining.
I know there is not much information here(I wasn’t entirely sure what to write) so please ask any questions.
Thanks in advance

Good question - I’d like to know as well

Yes it is possible, I mine half year on my home PC (I write this post on it while mining).
Just set intensity little lower (16) and be happy… -
From what I heard it’s not really possible to cpu/gpu mine anymore with just the standard setups for - which you describe - work and stuff. Unless your standards are pretty high and got some nice hardware to do the gpu mining with it will be hard to mine actual coins.
Oh mirrax just said it is possible. Then why would mining on a good laptop not be a good solution?
Correct me if I’m wrong guys!
PS. welcome!
Hey, mining on notebook is possible, but notebooks GPU’s are slow as fck and most probably you will overheat and destroy your fancy notebook. Hovever desktop PC is normal home PC or not??

Welcome to Feathercoin.
This is the introductions area. Feel free to ask mining questions in the “mining section”. Support for the Wallet is Support.
I see, but is mining on a desktop pc profitable? Will you get any coins at all with just the basic setup?
It depends, I suggest to pick some low-difficulty coin (FTC,GRC,PXC) and hold your coins long term. I was mining PXC with my shitty HD7790 just after Ghostlander took over the development, maybe 1 week of mining in total, then I forgott about them…and now I sold them during last peak and make 0,3BTC (kind of regret now that I wasnt mining more…) I think you need to study a little: mining calculator: http://www.feathercoin.com/calc/ coinchoose site: http://coinchoose.com/
