So… a new problem has reared its ugly head!

I have a single 7970 in the PC I use daily. To begin with, it was getting an average of 717Kh/s steadily, but now it has started dropping.
When I just start CGminer, it is mining in the 700’s for about 5 minutes, and then it starts declining. After about 30-40 minutes, it is only doing around 490Kh/s. The temperature of the card is 73C.

These are the settings I am running:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool2.d2.cc:3333 -u X -p X -o stratum+tcp://pool.d2.cc:3333 -u X -p X --failover-only --intensity 13 --worksize 256 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-memclock 1625 --gpu-engine 1025
Halp!

What card? That’s high on the memclock.

Quickly stop and restart cgminer - see if it goes back to 700+

        Most 7970s will do 750 with 1080/1500.

Hey Nutnut. I should have included that info. It’s an XFX HD R7970.

Yes, the speed goes back to 700+ when quickly restarting. However, it seems to be dropping faster now than it does when the card is starting out from cold. The GPU is at 73 - 76C, so I’m thinking that maybe it’s the memory that is slowing it down when it gets too hot?

Because, as you mention, the memclock is quite high.

I reached those settings by following this guide for tweaking the GPU:
          https://teksyndicate.com/forum/litecoin/how-tweak-your-settings-and-squeeze-khs-out-your-card-using-cgminer/137706

I do, however, get the same results when running the GPU at 1080mhz and the memclock at 1500, except its seems to be fluctuating just below 700Kh/s.

try lowering the engine speed in cgminer until it’s stable. some cards are stable @ 1050-1060 only. keep the memory @ 1500 =)

For anyone interested, the continuously dropping hashing rates came from me fiddling with both MSI Afterburner and ASUS Trixx. After loading defaults, it seemed to go away.
