Feathercoin is now 143 blocks away from a difficulty adjust that sees its new more fine grained difficulty adjust start working. The adjust was initially aimed for one week ahead but as many miners have had to chase the most profitable coins we have seen our hash rate drop. With our current difficulty we are at 50% profitability so the miners we have are the one who think longer term. The Feathercoin team is working on bringing value and services to Feathercoin so you will be able to put your coins to good use.[b]Bounty[/b]
To get the hash rate up I am putting up a bounty of 1BTC for the miner of block 32880,32900,32920,32940 and 32960 and another [i]**update** 10[/i]BTC for the miner of block 33,000.Bonus Bounty - Pledged by Justabitoftime - 5BTC for block 33k if it gets mined by May 25 2013 08:15:15AM (US Eastern Standard Time)
Unless you are a very large miner you will want to mine on a pool. When the block has been mined we will contact the pool owner to find out the user and if we are unable to identify you we will send the bounty, in Feathercoins, to your FTC address registered on the pool, or add the amount to your pool wallet if you do not have a payout address. I have included a list of pools below.

I dont understand this sentence: “and if we are unable to identify you we will send 10BTC worth of Feathercoin to your FTC address”.
I would think that you can only send FTC to someone if you know who mined the 33,000th block.

I’ve edited it to be a little clearer. If we are unable to identify the person by their username or contact them by a registered email address we will send the Feathercoins to the address used on the pool. If you do not have a FTC address on the pool I guess we can add it to your pool wallet :)

The bounty has been spread over several block to offer a more immediate reward for miners. The first bounty is on block 32,880 which is only 7 block away. Hopefully this will make it more interesting for those participating.

Will it be possible to award it to pool instead of miners? Or break up the reward into pool and miners? You may be able to catch a lot of smaller miners with that.
Makes the scheme even more complicated though.

Just thrown another 1800khs on to the FTC fire. 600 more coming tomorrow.
I really do like the community spirit here and I have been sporadically pointing my miners at FTC to help the push to 33k but I’ll leave them there full time now.

[/quote]That’s a good idea… maybe the extra 5BTC that justabitoftime threw in can go towards that for the 33k block. The only thing though is that if this was to happen, I would think that most small miners would find the biggest pool and join that, not only possibly making the pool 50% but also diminishing the worth of the reward.

Awesome idea! I spread the word through the trollbox a few times to hopefully grab some more attention to this. I got all my miners going at wemineftc’s pool.

Looks like the trollbox worked a bit. FTC price is moving in a positive direction! Hopefully we can get the global hashrate up from this.

14 blocks to go for 1 BTC payout. Once that happens and publicised properly expect a jump in hashrate.
