Lovely to see an 'Off-Topic' Section.

Hello everyone. I’ve frequented many a forum (I also run a Music related forum) and it always seems to be the ‘off topic’ sections that really build the friendships which drive forward the communities. Lovely to see there is an active one here.

I run a small not-for profit record label selling physical CD products for cost price, and I keep wondering if FTC would be a viable medium for payment.
-
Sure! We’ve got a marketplace built out and ready for ya where people are already doing so. There’s also https://www.coinpayments.net/ which will let you integrate FTC payments into your existing solution.
Do let us know what you do! :)
I was just talking to a friend today, about doing an online Music label only accepting Feathercoin at first, then maybe some others Crypto after.

Thanks for the info!
The hard part for us is remaining ‘not for profit’, we sell CDs at exactly cost price and cover other costs, website etc selling merchandise. Fluctuations against Fiat currency could make that tricky. If everyone we delt with accepted feather coin and it was our only currency, it could be interesting.
You spelled “will eat your soul” wrong.
There’s only one right way of looking at this: Either crypto-currencies are the future, and the current price doesn’t matter, or their worthless, and the current price doesn’t matter. If you believe they have value long term, then you would be foolish to convert them back into fiat now. If you believe they’re worthless, then it would be foolish to accept them at all.
If that’s not an option for you, and you MUST convert directly back into fiat, then crypto-currencies may be a bad business decision because of the risk involved.
-
Haha. That’s exactly it. Everyone from the mastering engineer through to the CD replication house is looking for a conversion to fiat and being ‘not for profit’ there is no room for volatility. A different business model, like a digital label, without a physical product which doesn’t require manufacturing or other externals might work though?
