[DEV] Feathercoin Web Site Development & Artwork

The video of how you can start offering Template design options, towards Feathercoin Website v3.
http://future.do/ftcreboot/
This is a template with no design just dumping content in to it.Here is a brief walkthrough of the backend:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzkGPz34o1cueEhPV2t3V3JWVWc/edit?usp=sharingThere also needs to be a video of where the “official Github” is.
How to clone the current working template to your hard disk, set up wordpress / IDE and push any patch back to the assigned GitMaster for that project.

The members have done a lot of work documenting the present site and sugesting potential enhancements or tweeks. The video’s are now sugesting how members can contribute.
Normally I would prioritise the Statement of requirements, but as these functions have been added as member requests, I will leave all current functions as requirements.
The next step is to set up a Github, then start - Develop the new “sites”, i.e. Your - Design Specification / Prototype Site.
It can be downloaded - tested and patched by members for free, is replicable. Members can be added to the team etc etc etc… it is Brilliant.
If you still haven’t learnt Github, a member should be recruited to handle that for the team…

I am loving this journey down alternative design.
-
How what do members need to have temporary web host servers to try the website out? or make some tweeks,
Is it only Online? if so is there a cheap way to do that or recommended web hoster?
or could we run a local version from home computer.
I for instance, don’t want to maintain the site but I could invent cool charts, given the graphing tools / training.

All right, I’ve drawn out a few more website themes. Check them out on the attachments.I’ll see if I can come up with some more. I think I need to design a theme that has either a more ‘communal’ or DIY/hobbyist feel to it.
Oh man, they’re so good I think I’m going to cry.

Hmmm…interesting Severino :) +1 rep for those. I like the idea of first and last one…something we might use.
That last one looks so dramatic with the circuit board.
-
Big thanks from the community. We appreciate you.

Nice work, Severino. I liked the idea of the slider, but being auto generated somehow. Wireframe 5 is dramatic.
I would like to see:
The next step is to have a way that these web designs can be prototyped and demonstrated quickly (to the members).
I don’t want to make a big thing of voting, I look at that as popularity, not law.
It is obvious to me that, in a volunteer environment, the person doing the actual donkey work gets the last word on the work. I see that as the main reward for leading the work, a measure of artistic control.
But, it looks like we could easily have a 3 design ideas to chosen to mock up, to vote on, as a general look and direction?
The idea is to get some input from members which design they like and buy in to the process. This will also help to encourage, design and enable ways for more member input into Feathercoin projects. Its not essential, members can comment in the forum.

That template looks really good to me, I like the direction the new site is going in.

+1 Severino

Heard about the upcoming website developments from Chrisj’s interview. Decided to see where this was hiding and eventually found it! Looking nice, Looking nice! I was really impressed with the way wireframe5.jpg looks as a theme.
-
Hey guys, is there any artwork you could point me toward? Namely, a vector version of the logo.
-
Perfect, cheers.

The forum search facility is very primitive.
I would like to search on * (anything) but in order of views or of number of thread replies, the amount of Rep contributers have. for instance.
It’s terrible. It’s the same on Bitcointalk. As well as the homepage we also need to work out the functionality that we want from the forum and then we can kind it inline with the designs. I don’t just mean the functionality you have mentioned, I want to hear what other people want from it too.

Great. +Rep

I like the wireframe #3. Everything is easy to get to and you don’t have to do a lot of scrolling. Whatever the website redesign is, you want to make it accessible as possibly and fast as possible to load for people going to it. Also want to make sure that it is Mobile friendly.

For convenience I have laid out Sev’s design’s on a Google Doc drawing board.

If you want to make some comments directly on to the document please PM me your gmail account and I will give you editing permissions.
Danke.

I had a good long conversation with a friend of mine who is a great UX usability designer who really liked what Sev was doing. Now he could come in and do his own designs but actually what we realised was that it would be more productive if he worked alongside Sev and the rest of us and just helped to guide the process.
He gave some great feedback on research that he has been reading about the use of sliders for example that I want to share with you. I am thinking of making a video about it so that it isn’t so typey. You know what I mean?
