[DEV] Feathercoin Web Site Development & Artwork
-
I like the wireframe #3. Everything is easy to get to and you don’t have to do a lot of scrolling. Whatever the website redesign is, you want to make it accessible as possibly and fast as possible to load for people going to it. Also want to make sure that it is Mobile friendly.

For convenience I have laid out Sev’s design’s on a Google Doc drawing board.

If you want to make some comments directly on to the document please PM me your gmail account and I will give you editing permissions.
Danke.

I had a good long conversation with a friend of mine who is a great UX usability designer who really liked what Sev was doing. Now he could come in and do his own designs but actually what we realised was that it would be more productive if he worked alongside Sev and the rest of us and just helped to guide the process.
He gave some great feedback on research that he has been reading about the use of sliders for example that I want to share with you. I am thinking of making a video about it so that it isn’t so typey. You know what I mean?

I am impressed. Proposals from 1 guy with sharp vision :)
I like the [s]first[/s] third out of [s]four[/s] six. -
So many good artwork designs here, Awesome! They stay better, when I’m not trying to comment those with my poor artist visions :D
But some comment about future contents. In update focus that web site contents can serve two important user group:
- Merchants and other business users. Answer questions what they might have: What is this?, why should I accept?, etc. And site can help them to find tools and instructions they need to use this.
- Basic home users. Answer their possible questions. What is this?, how can I send this to friend?, how can I buy something?, etc. And site should serve also for them to find different wallets + other necessary tools + guides.
-
Well, that first one with the tiles looks like something that I would really, really enjoy as the mobile version of the website. Not sure if there was going to be a mobile version of it, but this would be perfect in my humble opinion.
I also really like that slick dark one, it’s stylish and easy to look at…
Great designs, time to shake out some Rep :)

I agree, I’ve added that to “possible requirements / enhancement ideas” so the designers can consider it as an option.
-
Maybe the “mobile site!” is a design specification on its own? and potential for additional innovative features in the future.
-
Woop, this gets me excited! ::)

I think the circuitry designs send out the wrong message. You need an inclusive design that suits the theme of friendly community and doesn’t scream ‘geeks’ or ‘hackers’. Bright, clean and clear white but with bold splashes of slightly softened primary colours, hinting at friendliness. Its important IMO that people feel safe, the design is a huge part of that.
Yes one of the requirements should be that it is responsive design.

Kevlar has a point when he says that our opening line states what we are in the negative:
Feathercoin is an Internet currency not controlled by any central bank or institution
What do people feel about this instead:
Feathercoin is an Internet currency free from any central bank or institution
Feathercoin is an Internet currency independent of any central bank or institution
Also what about the word authority does that belong in there instead of institution?
I would say that in order to incite, so you probably want to stick with institution.Institution is much more vague referring to governments, reserves, banks and private money systems.

If there would be a voting, I’d vote for the above and stick with institution.
Also may be it’s worth to use ‘decentralized’ like
Feathercoin is an Internet currency based on a decentralized infrastructure and independent of any central bank or institution
-
Feathercoin is a cryptographic key backed currency based on a decentralized infrastructure and is independent of any central bank.
Is “snappier” we don’t have to tell everyone everything in one sentence. I changed it cause we’re not just on the internet. Don’t use this, it is just “rough idea”
-
Mobile Phone & Non English language Feathercoin v3 web sites versions and start pages.
I meant we need a separate design project for the “Smart phone web site”. Perhaps even the “3rd world facilities web site”
These are the “Main pages” for those slightly different requirements.
As we are trying to be international, perhaps some Other Languages -> Can run Separate front pages?
eg Non English - front page to “official volunteers” like lizhi could do Chinese and could officially link direct to the main site.
I think we need a hard ware fund, to make sure some basic web API services are distributed. This could facilitate and speed up implementation in non EU / USA countries.

This is where change control and testing would come in.
The “Your Ideas for Feathercoin” menu buttons were not updated / re replicated correctly when new tools were added to the main forum.
Complicated sentence. (but very correct)

I’ve rented a “Digital Ocean” cloud host site ($10 month). My son wants to set up a p2pool.
Its in Amsterdam, I have one droplet but could install another in which"test Feathercoin web sites" could be deployed.
For testing / appreciation of the potential new web site designs to members? Possible no holds barred weekend hack fest etc…
I know I ruffle a lot of feathers when I do this … but I don’t care, come after me.
I like the new wording, however it does not rid Feathercoin from experiencing the obvious inevitable comment, “Yeah, but ACP”.
So, to me throwing the above line around as FTC’s cornerstone is not going to go over well for teh haters (and there are a plenty), which I know is not your target audience, but it will get back to your target audience via teh haters in time and then FTC’s possibly lost the trust of said target audience.
It’s slightly disingenuous IMHO, until ACP is gone.
Ok have at me.
