There is going to be a lot of hype regarding this in the beginning, even more if Kanye himself backs it so initially the value will rocket but then it will fade away. (Probably) ???
-
Who knows, it might become popular, Dogecoin seemed pretty silly at first too.

Already brought the main site down for copyright infringement, according to [s]Vice[/s]slashgear.

Doesn’t seem down?

I understand the value of novelty, and it critical if you’re going to speculate on the value of these things that you do too: Novelty is temporary. Novelty is the quality of being new, original, or unusual, and as soon as this value diminishes, so will the valuation of the coin. If you buy something because it has a valuation based on it’s novelty, like a meme coin, you should expect that it’s value is going to increase as it’s hype does, and decrease as it’s novelty fades.
If you think a novelty coin is going to be hyped forever, you’re going to find yourself holding some worthless crap.
In the mean time, let the people experiment. These projects are valuable because they push the limits of the technology, and create discussion which raises awareness of crypto-currencies as an asset class and potential solution for the problem of fiat. I highly encourage anyone with the balls to try and pull something like this off to give it your best, and you’ve got my support… but you’ll never get my dollar.

Coin will distance itself from Kanye branding due to a nasty C&D:

Ok. I’ve spent the 10 minutes I didn’t want to spend on this reading everything.
It’s being built by a racist bigot who doesn’t seem to understand the basics of how crypto-currencies actually work. He’s pre-mining a crap-ton of the coins, and he’s getting nastygrams from lawyers.
And the even bigger idiots think Kanye is somehow evil or stupid for protecting his brand from this train-wreck of a publicity stunt gone horribly wrong.
Nothing to see here, folks. Just a monkey doing it to a football.
And, apparently, according to someone tracing down the site’s IP information they’ve traced it to BigVern of Cryptsy in some way.
EDIT: Sources, you say?! SOURCES. WE DON’T NEED NO STINKIN-yeah okay I better show that before BigVern starts trying to hit people talking about it with some defamation thing:
http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/1ujgm4/coinye_west_the_brainchild_of_bigvern_of_cryptsy/
And Cryptsy is going to be one of the exchanges that’ll list this dog. The same Cryptsy that’s told every other coin (including DOGE, MOON and every other recent release) to reach a minimum network hashrate so that they won’t fall victim to a 51% attack.
This whole thing is just too bizarre. Surely people aren’t going to risk their reputations by indulging this for a slight chance of a quick cashout and leave everyone else holding the bag. Right?
-
The evidence is purely circumstantial. The IP in question is a CloudFlare IP. There’s about equal chance that the Feathercoin forum may at one time be served up through that IP… and then you’d say it was Bushy.
Sorry, not buying it.
Right, that meme dollar bit me in the ass with all that hype like, “USA! USA!”, “Never forget!”, “Change!”, etc. Now I’m a fricken bagholder of USD, but I’m trying to dump it on people on BTC-e at a good price.
And marketing. Now someone has to top the COYE intro and do it without changing logos (you know, point out what COYE did wrong and how you’re going to do it right) and release date.
BTW, Coinye West is going to be a great coin and all, but BeyonceCoin had the best releases of the year yall!

“Due to legal pressure”
they already launched, wonder where this is going. On their website they listed a decent amount of pools.
