guess i must have missed something big. I will give +1 to Kevlar for his amazing effort towards helping resolve this issue. Your commitment to the community never ceases to amaze me.Hopefully a satisfactory end will come of this, and everyone will get back what they lost.
Second that Kevlar been amazing! I doubt we will get back all of our money but we should at least get justice!

Also, I understand that feelings are running high, but as there is now a very real possibility of a legal route, any posts which threatens, or appears to threaten any action which might be deemed illegal WILL be edited. This is for the protection of the forum and it’s admins. This is not directed at any one particular poster, but will be applied to everyone.
+1 for Kevlar, and I do agree with the protection of the site and admins. I say that Feathercoin forums should no longer let some one sell stuff like this on the forums, Posts like FTCLovers selling something like scryptcloud mining or anything like this should be removed right away. It’s to easy for people to come to these forums and post scams like this, and then brings drama to our forums. -
As a service provider I would hate that to happen because of this guy, one thing I will say is when we are ready to launch I think we will verify our identities with the site admins first! Its a pity because hes opted to go this route, when he probably would have had more success actually running the business.

1. communicate through a VPN based in ireland.
2. find some pictures of some random irish fellow and make a fake facebook page with those pictures.
3. communicate through that fake facebook page with that person’s real address.
4. photoshop receipts etc to that random poor irish fellow’s name and that random fellow wouldnt even know it!
5. be located halfway across the world and we wouldnt even know it!
This is quite likely the case.
Surely the person responsible is not dumb enough to leave his/her own details public on the domain whois. Whoever it is registered to will no doubt have a shock if they ever find out.
While this is a right old mess, the next steps should be rational, clinical and legal. Anything other will harm the case against the person(s) responsible.
I agree. The site was professional, the order processing worked well and the business turned over $20,000 within days of opening.

I don’t really think that it’s a good idea to support collective punishment of any kind. Removing anything that looks remotely like a scam that someone tried in the past will definitely hurt the honest merchants. Where would the line be drawn? This whole situation is awful for all involved and hope everyone gets paid back, but I think it could end up being worse for CloudScrypt. Just because of the names being similar he will have to deal with the stigma. I hope all goes well; I’ll be monitoring… -

Now I know tempers are running high but I want to call for all members to keep a level head. I hope everyone gets their money back through the legal courts. Dont do anything illegal. I want to point out that if this man is an experienced scamer he could:1. communicate through a VPN based in ireland.
2. find some pictures of some random irish fellow and make a fake facebook page with those pictures.
3. communicate through that fake facebook page with that person’s real address.
4. photoshop receipts etc to that random poor irish fellow’s name and that random fellow wouldnt even know it!
5. be located halfway across the world and we wouldnt even know it!Remember, this could be identity theft as well as wirefraud…
I’m very confident in this situation this is not the case. He is not experienced in anything like this. Experienced scamers would have just vanished for a start. You only have to look a little deeper as the operation to see he hasn’t got a clue

Can i make a suggestion to admin please that this thread is locked so people post in the other one?
or the other is locked so people post in this one?
seems we have two threads going about the same thing. would it not be better to lock one and merge the relevant posts into the other so its all in the right place or at least in one place?
Will make researching things easier for sure

Well, I don’t have a clue anymore either.
The story: FTClover figured he can build rigs, set up a nice site, cashed in on a nice load of Bitcoins, and then…
- He purchased hardware, but the wrong kind of cpu’s, some of those are the right kind now, and some rigs are running?
- Then lost his phone with the remainder of the Bitcoins on it, so no way of getting the rest of the needed hardware and no way to refund payment?
So… Is there any hardware in place? Are there rigs running?
And, FTClover, is there ever anywhere anyplace you had a copy of the Bitcoin wallet? How did you get that wallet on your phone? Or did you create a completely new wallet for it on the phone? Is Dropbox or some other service active that might have made a backup? Which wallet program did you use? Maybe it wasn’t hosted on the phone but online somehwere? Any older wallet version or online version you might have could get you out of this mess! The only other option is find the phone.
-
Mike: There is no hardware and he haven’t lost anything.
-
Theres no hardware unfortunately, the pics of the rigs he posted on his site were actually of a rig posted at litecointalk in may last year :(
-
He also doesn’t fit the profile of a scammer. Or he’s the most brilliant one ever.
Dragging his a*s into court might be the wrong way. If you want criminal justice (or whatever it’s called) then know that that is all about punishing bad guys, and nothing, NOTHING, will be done for the victims = money lost, whether the judge finds him quilty or not. You’ll need a different (and likely more costly) type of legal action to get him to repair the damages. Which he says he’s willing to do already, without court. Except that he’s not speaking to the people he should be speaking to (Kevlar?)
Best bet might still be to work with him and whatever he’s got. But he’s changed, or added to his story, every time he posts something. Shees, that doesn’t help in building up credibility…
[edit] Oww… the one rig he showed wasn’t even real… What a mess…

got a pm from his brother…
"Hello,
I would like to start off by explaining that I am not Shane, I am his brother. I am completely against what he did and would like to help you in any way I can in getting your money back, however there are limits as to what I can do/information I can give. I can’t do help you if my brother finds out about me contacting you so please for the sake of getting your money back do not tell him. So if there is any information you need let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
I really don’t want this to escalate any further than it has to so I ask you to not get anyone else involved other than the people who bought mining contracts for as long as possible, there can be a easy and maybe even profitable solution to this as not all the money has been spent."
I’d like to go ahead and knock this one out of the way.Is any moderator or admin willing to release the list of IPs he connected from? I think SMF can do that without going to every single post.
Reason being I’d like to compare it to a list of known VPN IPs, Tor exit nodes and all the SOCKS5 over at a site I’m subscribed to.
It’s a long shot, but if there’s one hit it’d give validity. If not, chances are good he posted from his home or a local wifi spot. That by itself is not good enough to tie an IP to an identity, but can be used to support the other information.
if he is willing to cooperate (which i doubt) then getting him to sign a legal agreement agreeing to repay the money might be an idea, but a guy like this will just go bankrupt and stick his finger up at us all. Best is trying to get him locked up - we have so much evidence. He hasn’t got anything. he has spent all our money on gold & motorbikes

This is getting beyond silly.

First of all I want to assure you the best course for everyone involved is for everyone to just relax a little, and work this out calmly.
FTClover has reached out to me, and I’ll be responding in detail with what I think he should do.
In the mean time, I have some good news. I’ve been in touch with a partner of his who built the website. He has voulenteered to refund his portion of the money, which totals at 8.885 BTC.
I’ve started a google document where I will be keeping track of who is owed what. I’ll be publishing that tomorrow.
If you haven’t already, I need you to PM me with the following information:
How much you paid.
The TX ID of your payment.
The Date of the payment.
Where you want the refund sent.We need to be SUPER strict about that TX id. It needs to match the amount you made, and the time you claim to have made it. If you need help finding it, please let me know.
I’ll be putting all this into the google doc tomorrow, so please PM me right away with the above information so I can get this process underway.
In the mean time I’ll be working with FTClover as best I can to make sure this doesn’t have to be any more painful than is absolutely necessary. My goal is to get you all your money back, and have us go our separate ways amicably.
I’m also assembling a document with EVERYONE’s findings in it. So far I have just about everything you could ask for: IP addresses, real name, verified real addresses, alternate accounts on popular forums, screenshots of all the messages he’s written, screen shots of the website in different stages, private chat logs on skype, emails… I mean it’s getting out of hand here how much data I’ve collected.
I will NOT be releasing this to anyone. I will not make it public, and I will not publish it under any circumstances. I will, however, surrender it to the authorities/a retained lawyer if it becomes necessary to take legal action. It’s my firm belief we can avoid that though through mediation and calm discussion, which I hope to carry out privately with FTClover in the next few days.
I’ll keep you all updated with my progress. Please PM me your transaction details if you haven’t.
-
Thanks Kevlar.
@HopeStillFlies: I won’t publish the IPs unless Pete explicitly tells me to, but I can confirm that FTClover registered with, and until recently used, an IP belonging to an Irish ISP called UPC.
Recently he has started using an IP which appears to be either a VPN or Tor exit node which has also been used by a number of different members. This number should not be used to try and get a geolocation on him.
I am certain that FTClover is in the Republic of Ireland, so let me put the Irish VPN thing to bed once and for all.
Nope, there’s no need for any of that.
I’m serious: THE STREET JUSTICE MENTALITY ENDS NOW or you can all find someone else to moderate this. There will be no publishing of personal data from here on out no matter what who says. The forum hack where all this data was stolen and is now being sold is bad enough, we don’t need to lower ourselves to that level. I’m moderating this to protect FTClover from an angry mob showing up on his door, and arming people with more information to track him by doesn’t help me at all. If you know something important, relevant, or related, PM me but do not publish it.
