Good Day! Greeting from Canada

Hello lovely people,
I like Feathercoin. This stuff is nice, I’m trying to get more people to adopt it here in Canada.
Anyway, I have a question; Anyone able to help me out with wallet restoration from a .dat file on a mac (OS X)?
I’ve been backing up the wallet files on an encrypted USB stick, but now I would like to update my wallet. What I hear so far is
that I have to make a wallet backup (which I have) and then delete the FTC QT app, and simply download and install the latest version.
What I’m hung up on is that I cannot find a way to do a wallet restore from backup in the FTC QT. First reasonable explanation gets a 2.5 FTC bounty!
I’m nervous about not being able to restore my wallet, also if you could briefly explain a wallet.dat file and what’s in it, much love.~Z.

Heya, sorry to hear you have problems with your wallet. You should create another topic about your problem in Support so you will get a more accurate and faster answer than in the welcoming-section! ;)
Welcome!

Hi hope you sorted the wallet. You just copy in the backup and fire up the new Qt, it should update automatically…

As long as everything goes smoothly you don’t need to worry about it as you only removed the application and not it’s associated data. The backup is there just in case you have problems.
If you run into problems when you start it up again after the upgrade, shut down the wallet and browse to
/Users//Library/Application Support/Feathercoin/
You may need to follow these steps to be able to see the hidden data folder
1.) Click the Finder icon on the dock
2.) press Command+SHIFT+“G” to “Go to the folder”
3.) Input “~/Library” and hit RETURN.and you should be able to see a wallet.dat, rename it and then move your backup into that location, relaunch the client and away you go.
