This is so sweet guys… Truly epic… If we can have a working prototype to show the world during the 1 year anniversary, it could get a lot of attention.
-
@Calem I’m hoping for more than one by then :)
This should be good to go before the next meet up just need to find some one to do the sticker printing as I only have access to powered coaters so its going to look very boring

EDIT *** 500 posts :) ***

I can cut stickers if you like ?
Just sent me an illustrator file and size/color of the vinyl and its a cut :-)
-
@prensel, thanks man… I’ve just Skyped iawgoM about that artwork but he’s not on-line yet…
Can you do vinyl stickers with a spot gloss finish? something similar to this? as I think the circuit tracks would look very cool in gloss :) then all I need to do is think of a colour for the can, but that maybe limited to whats in the spray gun at the time of taking it in due to the time constants of getting it ready for the end of the month

RTC problem is now fixed, I get a log file that makes sense…
Next thing is shutting down the taker when it runs out of codes, I don’t mind that it keeps swallowing £1 coins but the punters might get a little feed up of it. I’ve just been to the cupboard where the parts are kept to get a relay and there is none in there, I can’t remember using any… will have to pop out again later and get a couple

Current casing design is this…
Vertical slot is for coin taker, horizontal slot is for printer, hole on the end is to take a standard PC PSU…
Thoughts? This is ready to go off to the laser cutters, and due to time constraints to get it ready for the OB at the end of the month, I need to push the button tomorrow lunch at the latest

If you think your ready I say go for it!
-
UM, you need a tip jar!
-
I had one, but took it out of my sig whilst the PCUK is going on as I didn’t want to cause confusion
Oh and I pushed the button on the laser cutting this morning :) so hopefully they will be here next week :D
-
Ahh, makes sense.

This is insanely cool! Just read the whole thread 8)

Can we make a feathercoin bandit?
-
Started coding V2, Just will need to make a few changes which will allow accepting of all coins (10p and up) and vending different values of FTC in whole pound increments. Sitting in an airport lounge, will elaborate later.

Thanks, when I’m done I will tidy it up and put it somewhere safe for a rainy day and let all the dev work fall to the bottom of the pile, but still be around for referance if anyone wants it. Trying to wokr out how to use GitHub at the moment :-\

I don’t see why not… but I think that is going to need ATM v2 to be ready 1st, I’ll look into it a bit during an insomnia moment and get back to you

You are a god!!!
Are we still going for the Pi route? I need to add you to my Skype thingy so we can talk about this at some point.

Was just smashing an idea down on paper whilst it was in my head. But seems like a natural extension to an ATM in the pub haha.

Takes a bit of time to get used to it, but once it clicks you’ll wonder how you managed without it :)
Keep up the good work.

Ok, so for V2 I was hoping to make some changes that would allow multiple different coins to be used, and a 16 x 2 LCD screen to show how much fiat has been inserted and a big vend button, which starts the printing of the QR codes when the required value of coins has been inserted. This would still run on Arduino, but it would allow me to evaluate more complex codes and functions.
Individual QR codes would still need to be generated, and a lot more of them as conceivably (a lot) more than one QR can be printed per vend.
I see the Pi as being more of a V3 or 4, as I need to see about the best way to port the code. Does that sound ok to you UM? There would be 2 further (little) cutouts in the box but that can be sorted later.

Mate thats fine, I can’t code for fudge… but having said that I have spent a lot of time fixing problems on the code we have. How do I get a copy of the revised v1 code to you as I can’t drive github any better than I can drive a digger! and trust me i can’t drive a digger :(
Do you have any links to the screen and button your thinking of by an chance? reason for asking is I have to make a min purchase on laser time and at the moment that is 7 cases, quite a lot of a proto-type but I’m willing to give it a go, but if you have some links we might be able to get some v2 cases out of this run :)

For now, you could just email me the sketch as it runs, you could use my email from the Team page. I’ll update the sketch with your deltas.
As for the screen, just look on Ebay or DealExtreme for a 16 x 2 LCD screen, they’re all standard, and for the button, any momentary button would do, slightly bigger is better. If you can get a 16 x 2 LCD with an I2C backpack, that would be even better, but the screen would still be the same and the mounting would be the same.
