      Feathercoin 0.8.6.1 Testnet

      bitcoin_testnet.png

If you setup your client correctly this logo

will be displyed in the bottom right sys tray
Initial testing has complete on Feathercoin 0.8.6.1 which has a new the Enhanced Hash Rate Compensation solution created between Wrapper and Wellenreiter. The discussion for this is available here.

This is a call for others to join the testnet and throw some hashpower towards it. The compiled Windows Qt client is available from the link below.

Feathercoin 0.8.6.1 RC3 Windows Qt Client

To connect to the testnet make a shortcut to the feathercoin-qt.exe file in the zip linked above, right client and select properties and in the target field put the following at the end. Press okay and then run the shortcut. The client should then connect to the testnet. To solo mine you will need to specify rpcallowip, rpcuser, rpcpassword, server=1 and rpcallowip in feathercoin.conf and mine locally using the default testnet RPC port of 19337.

       --testnet -addnode=64.90.183.217

It is also possible to join in with just some hashpower by pointing your miners towards one of the testnet pools.

Username: Use your testnet wallet address (mgTPcQpeZrNDSW4JocVX2yPzyHfVtQ4tLW)
      The password can be anything

To grab the source code for 0.8.6.1 from GitHub you need to specify the branch by using the following command.

      git clone https://github.com/FeatherCoin/Feathercoin.git -b 0.8.6.1

Thanks to both of you for supporting the testnet.

Node 1 shows constant 40 khash provided by wrapper and vioingiappone, so it seems there was a routing problem when you tried to connect.

Currently the testnet has two purposes, first to give the community the possibility to test the new client in a test environment before throwing it on the main network, and secondly we need it to have a test environment for the nwe hashing algo to come.
As we have to simulate all the hard forks of the main network on the testnet, when starting the testnet from scratch, it takes several days’ until the testnet isin a status to test on.
Therefore we would like to keep it runnung until Bushstar is ready to test the new hashing algorithm.
This could take awhile, as the changes are drastical and programming this is a lot of work.

What we are looking for is a gruop of supporting people that keep the testnew running by adding a relatively low hashtate each.

The testnet runs stable starting at 100-200 khash, so if we could get 5-10 people throwing in 20 khash each, that would make it and keep the individual power cost marginal for everyone.

Of course there is no limit in the hashrates somebody want’s to put in ;-)

There is now a RC2 client to use. This release has the new changes implemented in stages on the testnet so we can gather more information. The testnet also has a new genesis block, pchMessageStart and the addresses start with a T.

Please download the client from the first post and lend us some hashes :)

                    I start feathercoin-qt in BAT,

                    Test.BAT :

                    feathercoin-qt -testnet -addnode=64.90.183.217

But I get a error. “Incorrect or genesis block found.Wrong datadir for network? " :-[

Did you download the latest beta version from github?
There is a new release candidate out since two days, that contains a new genesis block for the testnet as well as some change to message start strings, so older versions of the wallet don’t work on the testnet anymore.

The new client has the same version number than the old testnet client.

There is now a RC3 version of this software. The alert keys were regenerated, if you want to see alerts in action then download or compile RC3 from source. If you want to send an alert or two send me a PM for the private key :)

I can confirm I’m mining steadily on node 1 so it is up and running.

I will give the test wallet a shot now.

Testing wallet compiled, address set… and first coins received!

Will keep this setup online indefinitely.

                              Cheers!

With the imminent release of the newest FTC version what are we mining on the testnet supposed to do? Should we stop mining or what?

                                Thx
